Stout will get 2 1st teamers for sure and have the possibility of 3. I really like Olson and he controls the game very well. As people have mentioned, to call him flat out the best pg in the league might be over the top. He is a great passer and can get to the rim often, but he is not necessarily a great all-around point guard. The only numbers that jump off the page are his assists. Teams literally "dare" him to shoot a pull-up 16 footer and he is rarely willing. As others have said, having 2 tops scorers on his team help with the "reversal" assists that he didn't really have to work for. With that said I still think he is very deserving of an All-Conference selection with his leadership and control of the game. Oman is a lock in my mind. Even though he might not of had the season expected by many, he still ended 2nd in scoring and shooting about 43% from the field and 4.8 rpg. Even with Hortman on the team it looked like teams went into games planning for Oman, not Hortman.

Either way Olson, Oman, and Hortman are all deserving candidates and hopefully they all get that honor. Finishing 3rd in the conference makes it a realistic opportunity in my mind. Go Olson and Go Blue Devils!

I'd take Young over Olson. But it is pretty close.

When I made my initial response to Olson being "flat out" the best point guard in the conference being a little out of bounds, I was thinking that Young is the best offensive point guard in the league.  He isn't a shooter at all like Olson, but his athleticism sets him apart and lets him finish at the rim.  With that said, it is also my opinion that when Ryf is healthy, he is the best defensive point guard in the league.  He has a little more size than Young or Olson, which helps him.  And, from watching him, he just busts his butt on defense.

It's hard for me to consider a player best at his position in conference when I don't consider him the best offensively or defensively at his position.  I don't want to take anything from Olson though.  He has had a career anyone should be ecstatic to have and I'm sure Stout is glad to have him.

A lot of Pool C candidates will be pulling for Whitewater on Saturday!!!

A Whitewater loss to Platteville would take a Pool C bid out of play for someone, as the Warhawks would be a lock for a Pool C bid.

Good job taking the game out of the players' hands stripes.

Sounds like the officiating wasn't that great. Surprising since it was at Point  ::)

I didn't get to go to the Stout @ WW game, but a few people I know did and it may be a bias opinion but heard the officiating wasn't anything special either.

I never want to say this but here goes........ GO WARHAWKS!!!

The officiating for point game was embarrassing to say the least especially one in particular.  Didn't seem he's ready to officiate a game at the Wiac level.  Lets not forget points terrible perimeter defense on cross though either.  I get its difficult to guard a big that can shoot 3 s but many of his shots were wide open looks.  Either way point has overachieved all year hopefully they can win a game or two in tourney and build for next year.
GOTTA LOVE ACT 10

I just got back from the UWW/UWS game. In my opinion Young out played Olson tonight. Young was regulary taking Olson off the dribble and getting to the hoop. Young had a great game today (still has to work on his foul shots though).

For awhile it looked like UWW was going to run away with it, but Stout battled back. Seems like Stout was getting ever board on both ends of the court, while forcing UWW to take bad shots later in the second half.

Great game. Hopefully we can finish it off at home Saturday (and be a possible host in the NCAA tourny).

I don't want to blame officiating because Point didn't shoot good enough or play good enough defense to win.....but Point should have had a chance to tie or take the lead by taking the last shot down 2....instead, one of the refs gave a timeout to Platteville when a loose ball going out of bounds was grabbed by a Platteville player and while jumping out of bounds, called a timeout.  Anybody that knows anything about basketball knows that rule was thrown out years ago.  So, if it's called correctly, Point should have the ball with 17 or 18 seconds left, down 2....instead, Platteville gets fouled and hits both...Point down 4 with 15 seconds or so and it's a completely different game.

Wasn't there a possession just a bit earlier where Point got a TO despite it being a jump ball? I wasn't there so I am going based on audio, thanks to that frustrating "no streaming tournament games" rule. But if this is true turn about is fair play no?

That is a judgement call that could have been a timeout or a jump ball.  Richard had sole possession of the ball for a split second.

Either way, completely different because there shouldn't be any judgement on the Platteville timeout at the end of the game.  It is in the rules that you can't call timeouts while you're in the air going out of bounds.  I don't even know how he could have come up with a Platteville timeout in that scenario, does he not know that rule??

Greek Tragedy

With the loss, I think Stout is out of Pool C contention. Hopefully  the WIAC can still get three teams in with a Platteville win.  It would be nice to see the conference player of the year to be Chas Cross in the NCAAs.

Cue up the Jeopardy theme song as the waiting begins for the Pointers and perhaps the Blue Devils, as we await the outcome of the UWP vs. UWW game, and the rest of the D3 teams to sort things out...

Another candidate for the all-conference team is UWL's Lucas Morrissey...

Unfortunately I would have to agree with you. Although there is always that little bit of hope that they get in by a thread, or maybe justa glitch in the system  ;D

Just got home from WW.  Great game, great season, and unfortunately, probably a season ender for Stout.  Badgerwarhawk, congrats to your team.  Harris hit an amazing game winner and Young kicked Olson's ass tonight.  I'm done with that debate.  Heading for Onalaska today to do the MHS/Onalaska game.  Maybe I can convince  Onalaska's Thomas to change his mind about Iowa State and play for Stout next year :D

Uh?  There are games Olson doesn't even shoot.  Maybe that's an exaggeration, but if you look at his boxscores, there are games when he shoots only 1-3 times in an entire game, this while playing 30+ minutes.  I should know, he was on my fantasy team!
