Gasser is the point man, no doubt. He was going to have it this season before the injury. He was never really comfortable at SG. Vice Versa for Jackson. It will be Gasser, Jackson, Brust, Dekker, Kaminsky to start the season. Book it. Koenig and Marshall will rotate in at the guard spots. Some combination of two from Dukan, Hayes, Brown and Anderson will play up front. The lack of inside presence defensively will be mitigated by the good perimeter guys. Should be another solid season but two years from now is the time to expect big things.

I see that Paul Jesperson of Merrill is leaving Tony Bennett's U of Virginia team to transfer to another school anyone know where?? Nice to have him come back to the state there are 4 D1 programs that could use help.  From Virginia's website:

http://www.virginiasports.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/041513aaa.html
Jesperson is an athlete who played meaningful minutes and started at times for an ACC conference school.  He's not a D3 player.
Brandeis started a kid at point guard who fit that description at Boston College.
http://www.d3hoops.com/columns/around-the-region/east-northeast/2012-13/dont-judge-brandeis-mens-basketball-on-2011-2012
There is always the odd example ... most D1 athletes don't have the humility to step down two levels.  I'm not saying that in a bad way or as a barb aimed at Jesperson ... rather that is the nature of the high-end athlete.  I just don't see it especially when the kid is going to have a half-dozen or more schools actively chasing him.  Iowa State has made a living recently on taking transfers such as Korie Lucious.  Jesperson could come in a start immediately for a UWGB or UWM.  D2 schools like Winona State, Minnesota Mankato, St. Cloud State could sell championship potential combined with a scholarship.

None of us know the reason he's leaving.  It might be more than just basketball.  But if it is primarily basketball then he'll have a lot of options open to him.

Gasser was going to be the PG this past year because there was no experinced PG on the squad not because he (Gasser) was a true PG.

Knowing Bo Ryan, he will probably not start a true freshman, at least initially, because that is not his style ... but by seasons end barring injury I think we will see Koenig playing more minutes at the PG spot than anyone else.

Doesn't hurt to play multiple players who are capable of bringing the ball up the court and setting up your offense either.  We're probably talking semantics because we both agree that Koeing's not redshirting ... no way, no how!

Your coach approaches you as says I want/would like for you to play PG next year.  What do you think a selfless team player such Gasser is going to say.   He's not a Chris Paul, Trey Burke or Jordan Taylor.  He will be fine as a PG - steady, heady, intelligent and selfless but he won't be a dynamic playmaker.  From within the article:

QuoteIn his first two seasons at Wisconsin Gasser has primarily played shooting guard ...

Oshkosh looks to have really improved their squad for the future with this recruiting class.  They needed a big class and got some talent to fill out the roster.

Carson Biedrzycki, Burlington
Taylor Janssen, Columbus
Jake Laihinen, Homestead
Brett Linzmeier, Two Rivers
A.J. Mueller, Milwaukee Marquette
Nathan Pronschinske, Neenah
Max Schebel, Fond du Lac
Riley Vander Wyst, Kaukauna

Selfishly, I was hoping that Biedrzycki and Linzmeier would choose Stevens Point.  Biedrzycki has good size on the wing and looks to be a good athlete who can hit outside shots.  Linzmeier could have been the point guard of the future after a year in the program.  Pronschinske and Vander Wyst I think will really help out the program as well.  Great job by Juckem and their program to get them going on the right track back.

And as I posted a few weeks ago, three standouts from the Chicago suburbs...

Yes, sorry Titan Q....I remember reading about the Chicago area recruits as well.  It will be interesting to see which of these recruits get trimmed by the season because I can't imagine 11 freshman making the roster, maybe I'm wrong though.  Either way, Juckem looks to be the man for the job in Oshkosh and that is great for the WIAC.  Go Pointers though!!!

Honestly that wouldn't surprise me at all, or at least close to that number. Last year's roster lacked talent in a big way and Cory Nickel has left the team as well. Only Royston, Wurtz, and Wallace return as locks to make the team. Everyone else will be battling for the remaining spots. Even at the end of the bench having better practice guys will make the starters better. The trouble is the implications down the road of having one class every 4 years need to be huge but my guess is that will work itself out.

Also this is a great sign for the Titan program IMHO, keeping valley players in the valley.

I knew Juckem would make impact as far as recruiting.  Why did Nickel leave?

To dedicate more time to academics, specifically his major.
