Point comes away with two road wins this week. Glad to get out of Superior with a W after the scrap at Stout. I worry about that trip especially after a road game earlier in the week. Nice to see Heuer play well.

Congrats to Coach Semling for his 201st win as a Pointer coach, becoming the winningest coach in Stevens Point history :) :) :)

Greek Tragedy

Man, tough going for Stout. Long gone is that big win against Whitewater. They drop that following game at River Falls the. Big effort against Point without (basically) Jenny and Whitehead, not to mention Ragland. I knew it would be tough against Platteville but I think they just used too much energy against Point and didn't have anything left last night.

The Bluedevils played without effort or emotion.  It was the worst effort of the season.  That hangover effect from the Point game should be no excuse.  They play a very good LX team on Wed. and if they don't come to play, LX will blow them out.  I am very disappointed right now and I know the coaching staff feels the same way.  Time to quit making excuses for players not available.  Those "next men up" need to take their opportunity and run with it.

I have no clue what to make of Stout.   ???

This is likely overly simplistic... but perhaps it's home/away? Stout is 5-0 at home. They're 3-4 on the road.

Stout just played their first of 4 straight at home (strange scheduling... I don't remember seeing that many in a row like that... and they have two strings of three on the road as well.

Superior starts a five-game conference road trip Wednesday. Eau Claire, Whitewater, River Falls, Platteville and Stevens Point.,

So to sum up these last several posts: Stout got all the calls and that is why the game stayed close, and Bob Semling hardly ever talks to officials.  Right.   :-[

Did you watch the game??  Cuz if you did and don't want to admit that Stout got some major calls down the stretch to keep them in the game then I don't know what to tell you besides you're being extremely biased.  Regards to Semling, I've seen every second of every game this year and this is the first time he has raised his voice in a face to face conversation with officials this season.  He is an extremely calm coach who spends most of every game standing up with his hands in his pockets.

Hello kettle, my name is pot and you're black.

The guys I was with were former Stout basketball players and agreed with me that the officiating down the stretch was extremely one sided.  I'll take there word for it that I wasn't being biased.  I imagine you were busy watching the Warhawks game that night so I don't understand why you would have any comments towards something you didn't see.  If you did see it, then fine...fire away.

WARHAWKS: 90
EauClaire: 51

After a couple of early ties the WARHAWKS went up by six, 15-9, less than five minutes into the game.  EauClaire scored making it 15-11 which was as close as they would get for the rest of the game.    A 20-0 run over the next six minutes by the WARHAWKS essentially ended the game.  Defensively the WARHAWKS held EauClaire to 20 points in the first half and led by twenty three 43-20 when it ended.  Quardell Young led all scorers shooting a perfect 7-7 from the floor good for 16 points and KJ Evans added 10 points.  Twenty one points is as close as the BluGolds would get in the second half and the WARHAWKS lead reached it's high of 39 twice including the final.

The WARHAWKS shot 56% from the floor and out  rebounded the BluGolds 43-20 including a 16-6 advantage on the offensive end which led to a 38-22 scoring advantage in the paint and a 19-9 advantage on second chances.  Young finished a perfect 10-10 from the floor to score a season high 25 points.  Evans finished with 12 points and Steve Egan added 12 points.  Patrick Souter pulled down a game high 7 rebounds while both he and Young had game highs with 3 assists apiece.

In the last four games the WARHAWKS have held opponents to an average of 21 points in the first half.

No offense intended and I didn't comment on something I didn't see.  I commented on your comment.  That I did see.   If you can't recognize your own bias I don't know what the tell you.

Personally I've very impressed that the Pointers were able to win an 8 on 5 game.

Okay, here we go again.  I wasn't going to comment anymore regarding this, but now BW isn't suppose to have an opinion either because he wasn't there so I will jump in again.  Why don't you tell me who your unbiased Stout players were.  I'm sure I would know them as I have been doing Stout games for many years.  Am I biased towards Stout?  absolutely.  But read my past posts.  I just torched their performance against Platteville.  No ass kissing here.  I tell it like it is.  Was your account of the Stout/SP game biased?  Of course it was.  Have I ever felt that Stout was getting a raw deal at SP or WW, or Platteville?  Of course.  We get over it.  You should too.  Your last comment was, "if you did see it...fire away."  I did see it so I'll fire: I was very proud of the Stout effort, I was disappointed they were not able to win the game, and you sound like an idiot.

I'm not going to tell you what ex Stout players I have as friends but I'm sure you do know them...I'll say they are around the 2004-2005 years and that's all you need to know.

You should be proud of the Stout effort, I never said there effort wasn't fantastic.  You could tell they left everything on the court that night.  I would have some bias towards Point games but the fact that biased Stout former players felt the same way that Stout was bailed out on a number of occasions  in the last few minutes, I felt it was safe to assume that Point got the raw end of the officiating.  By the way, I am over it....we won, I was over it as soon as the final buzzer sounded.  I can still give an opinion since that's what this board is partly used for.

Congratulations on being able to tell it like it is in regards to Stout.  It must have been hard to talk negatively about their performance after they got blown out by Platteville.  Keep up with the personal attacks though, you're the one that sounds like an idiot when you do.

And here I thought all the fun was over on the football boards! Pretty intense for early January. Nice!  ;)

Wowzer! A lot has been going on the last couple days on here. Before any of this got started I was telling people I thought the officials did a pretty good job overall. They let the players play and it was a more physical game play (which happens to benefit Stouts style of play), but I don't think it was ever "one sided." I will agree that Stout got "lucky" on a call or 2 down the stretch, but a few of those calls were obvious as well. The foul count was 13 to 17 in favor of Point. I know that doesn't always tell the story, but I thought they did well overall.

Everyone has their own opinions and bias towards their team. As an official a lot of calls are going to please one side and piss the other side off. It's part of sports and as a fan, player, or coach you have to deal with it.
