After tying the school scoring record with 40 points against Whitworth, Trevor Hass was at 56% (36-64) from trey land, but since then only 27% on 10-37.  He was stretching his back out during the last game and it looks like there was a problem area, so maybe he's not 100%.

I think Hass ended his slump this week ::)

What a performance by the Bluedevils at Zorn!  At one point late in the 89-67 blowout, Whitehead, Kosloske, and Higgins were a combined 17 of 17 from the field.  Whitehead finished a perfect shooting night with 8/8 from the field and 5/5 freethrows.  Oman sucked.  He was 6/6 from the free throw line but missed 4 shots from field. 8/12 and 4/6 from 3pt range.   That's 5 in a row for the Bluedevils in the big "War on 94" and I think coach Zorn is looking down on this rivalry with some real scorn and distain.  There is also a rumor out there that Coach Anderson might sneak onto "Ken Anderson Court" with some sandpaper and take off his name. :-[

I think that there may be a mistake in the WARHAWKS/Falcons box score.  It shows mid-term addition Sean Klemp scoring 18 points and pulling down 12 rebounds in 18 minutes while Eric Bryson is scoreless and without a rebound in 1 minute.  Yet the play by play shows Bryson scoring and rebounding.

BW,

You gonna be able to look into that? Maybe the Mayor or another Falcons fan?

I checked the box score linked to the story on our website today and it appears to have been corrected.  It was KJ Evans who had the 18/12 double-double and Bryson had 15 points.  Sean Klemp was scoreless in one minute of playing time.

At first I wondered why in the world we would have initially asked Sean Klemp to grayshirt if he was able to produce like that.  I know we have quite a few guards but there are several who aren't as productive as Klemp appeared to be.

This incident reminds me of a time when I was younger and played fastpitch softball.  We entered a state tournament but I was unable to participate so they got another guy to play in my place.  However because the roster had been submitted he had to be me.  He had a fantastic tournament, hit some home runs drove in something like a dozen runs.  The next edition of our local newspaper raved about how well I had played.  I only see this guy once every ten years or so but whenever I do he always mentions it.

Surprised there wasn't any investigation into "your" unusually productive performance. Maybe a drug test? Possibly video confiscation, if they had video back then? Maybe prize money should be returned or trophies given to their rightful owners? I'm hoping you kept the article!

Is this a pattern? Do you get Dick Weber to fill in for you when you are "unable to participate" on your Saturday night bowling leagues or ask "Action" Dan Harrington to sit in for a couple of hands during your Tuesday night poker games? I guess I will have to make sure it's you manning the clock the next time I visit Whitewater!

No, for sure, it will be BW on the clock. Whether it's football or basketball, it will be BW on the clock. Always. :)

I just want to say that this will be my last year bowling.  Mrs BW and I have already told our partners that we will not be returning next year.  This year we were able to find friends to substitute for us on alternating months beginning the phase out.

I'll be on the clock as long as they let me.  Though I will miss the men's game against Oshkosh this year for, you guessed it, bowling.

HaveJ, I was definitely at the Whitewater game.  I swear I remembered Tweed hitting a couple of 3's.  I claim a senior moment!  As far as Whitewater's defense on the perimeter, I thought it was okay.  We worked hard to get open looks, successfully.

The Point game Saturday was a different story.  We stayed with them for a while, but eventually they just blew us off the floor.  At one point I told Brian I doubted anyone in the conference could have guarded Hass that night, and he agreed.

Chmarx - no problemo.  Seemed like everyone that suited up for LAX that night nailed a three point shot.  Hass was flat out great on Saturday, but I'll bet you that the LAX coaching staff would say he got too many clean looks.  When a guy is able to get 13 three point attempts in a primarily half court game, there are too many breakdowns.  I think LAX wore down a bit, and the absence of Tweed and Staege really hurt them.

Huge game tomorrow in Platteville as the Pioneers try to get revenge for a 77-58 thrashing the Warhawks put on them in Whitewater a fortnight ago.

Manning and Cross had field days, combining for 11-13 shooting for 30 points and 14 rebounds. But Gerber and Johnson were just 9-24 and Stocki was just 1-2. Key bench players Vaassen and Nemitz were a combined 0-8.

Whitewater shot 61% with Hearn going for 16 and 3, Young 14 and 5 and Evans just 11 and 6. Coming off the bench, Souter and Odegaard combined for 17 points.

Look for a big turn around for Platteville's guards, they'll need it.

Big game in the standings as well with Point unbeaten, Platteville two back and Whitewater a further game back. Platteville wins, they are two up on Whitewater and the Warhawks could be 4 back of Point by the end of the night. I think the Pioneers can prove a lot of people wrong, I'm first in line, with a win. They had an up and down nonconference schedule and that could still hurt them come Regional Rankings time and, ultimately, NCAA selection time.

They are just 11-6 in the NCAA's eyes with the Indiana Dabney win not counting (non-D3). Their win against Augustana will help about as much as their loss to Carthage will hurt. Whitworth is also a big loss. With losses to Point and Whitewater already, they could be looking at 4 losses against regionally ranked opponents...I'm not sure Carthage has enough to get into the regional rankings, let alone, stay there.

It isn't even February yet and the WIAC could already be looking at just two NCAA tourney teams and only 1 Pool C spot.
