I have to admit that I wasn't sure 3.9 seconds was enough time to get it done.  Great job by Q for getting it done. It was an incredible weekend for the WARHAWKS.

Congratulations to UW-W on their well deserved championship.  That was very entertaining game to watch- the back and forth was unbelievable in those last 8-9 mins.  So many players on both sides made big plays at different times.  Not many teams would have a good answer for KJ Evans, 6'3" but plays like 6'7" or taller.

As much as it hurts that Point wasn't in position to do so, Congrats to the Warhawks on their championship.

As dominant as Point and Whitewater and Platteville have been in the past 25 years (10 NCAA championships), for the most part it has been done with in-state talent.  Who would have thought Wisconsin is such a hot bed of basketball talent? I think much of the success has to go to the coaches and systems these teams have in place. Each of those champions have had great players, but the bits and pieces and how they fit the systems they run make the difference.

I've seen it mentioned numerous times that the WIAC has an unfair advantage as State schools with cheaper tuition, but I've also heard that the private schools also are able to provide significant scholarships and other aid to their students as well. I can't believe that the Badger state produces that many more players than other states in the rest of the country.

Some can, some can't. Nobody can generalize about the private schools of D3, because they cover such a vast spectrum of financial capability and policy. There are incredibly well-endowed private schools in D3, and there are schools that barely have two dimes to scrape together that are only able to keep the doors open every year because tuition dollars cover the school's annual budget. And there are private schools that are generous with financial aid and/or have lots of scholarships or grants available, and there are private schools that are very stingy with aid.

The majority of D3 private-school students get school-based financial aid of some kind, whether it be in the form of grants or scholarships. But for most students, a private-school education is a very, very expensive proposition that often requires years of subsequent payments. I was on a partial scholarship at North Park, and it still took me ten years to pay off my bank loans to go to school there. And I'm pretty typical in that regard.

I've known public-school alumni (or parents of public-school alumni) who've tried to put forth the argument that public schools really aren't cheaper, because their neighbors had a daughter who went to a private school for free, or somesuch. But cases like that are the exception, not the rule. On average, a public-school education is much cheaper in the long run than a private-school education.

One of the biggest advantages the WIAC has is not having very many D2/NAIA schools to compete against for kids with basically D2 state school tuition.

To some degree that applies to the Illinois D3's as well, though they have several more low D1's and NAIA's.  Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio all have strong NAIA and D2 conferences to compete against for recruiting.  The WIAC just doesn't have the competition.

Illinois has more competition than you think, as there are four D2s and ten NAIAs in the state, as well as a few odd ducks such as East-West, Robert Morris-Springfield, etc. There are also a bunch of low-major D1s (Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, and Chicago State) that will on occasion crowd out D3s that are seeking to recruit a certain player. But the saving grace for Illinois D3 schools is that the state's population is so large that there's plenty of players to go around, both for the scholie schools and the D3s. Plus, having eight and a half million people in the Chicago area makes recruiting easier in terms of travel.

I keep getting an error message every time that I try to watch that YouTube video. Is that happening to anybody else? I wonder if CBS has notified the YouTube folks and had it blocked.

Wasn't there 4.8 seconds on the clock?

Heard from a UW-Whitewater fan that the Warhawks have a 6-8 transfer coming next season from D2 Winona State.  An already impressive 2014-15 nucleus gets even better!

Congratulations UW-Whitewater fans...your guys really played awesome in Salem.  Very deserving national champions!
