I was at Kolf for an event last week and I saw a 7'5" guy there working out in the weight room.  Hope he is a Titan.  ???

He's definitely a Titan, but he's on the golf team.  :P

Shockingly, Pointer men's schedule released already!

It would also be shocking if this year's UWSP opponents aren't glad Tillema and Hass are no longer playing.  :o   ;)

That's a pretty competitive out of conference schedule.

Big news indeed... Perhaps if this takes place and a new arena is built, it will help bring in recruits - who won't read this message's forthcoming stat of the day - ;) and help revive a dormant men's program that has not seen much in terms of Ws over the last few decades...

Stat of the day - Since Ken Anderson left in 1995, the Blugolds have had a winning record in conference play in only five of the last 18 seasons, with 12 consecutive seasons at .500 or below against those teams since the 2001-02 season... Oh, the pain, the pain...*

= Just Bill scoops the UWEC fan here, but only because I wasn't smart enough to remember and find the men's hoops posts now in the Central region, not the west.  ;) (I wondered why there were no postings in that region for WIAC hoops for the last two or three months, or whatever it has been since the switch... Ha. )

Naming rights candidates include The Chicken Hut, Camaraderie, as well as National Presto.  Maybe John Menard will get in the bidding as well.

The Chicken Hut and the Cam? Hummm... Methinks you've been in EC a few times!  ;)

I vote for the Chicken Hut. Who wouldn't want to play in the Chicken Hut Center?

Would losing teams at this proposed new venue therefore be said to have "laid an egg?"

Or would teams that play the fast tempo, unstructured style be running around like chickens with their heads cut off.   :P

Any updates on UWW's roster?  Interested to see if Skylar O'Laughlin from Elkhorn via Winona State is transferring here!

I understand that Eau Claire  may have need for an arena of some kind, but I suggest that some thought be given to having the Blugolds  playing in a large arena. We have had some experience with that in La Crosse, and I think most would agree that it didn't work very well. The problem is that unless attendance increases greatly, the games get swallowed up in the large arena. UWL and Viterbo might attract 1200 to an intra-city game, but there was absolutely no atmosphere in the 6500 seat La Crosse Center. The games are much better suited to Mitchell Hall or Viterbo's small gym. Zorn is a great venue, and I hope it can be retained.
