They can't practice with the team once the official roster is set and games are underway.   Actually they can't have any contact with the team or the staff.

If a coach cannot have contact with general students, does this mean that in-season tryouts are "no-no's"?  There is a feel good story on the football boards about a Wesley manager who tried out as kicker a week or two ago, after two or three games were played. He is now their kicker. Or does "can't" simply mean they "can't" unless they want to see the current  year count against their eligibility?

An in season tryout can occur provided that the student completes all the necessary paperwork. If that player participates in even one workout or practice with a coach, AFTER the first regular season game is played, then he is charged with a season of eligibility.

So yes, he can try out, but it costs him a year of eligibility. The point of being a gray shirt is to save a full year of eligibility, so in order to do that that player has to stay away from the coaching staff all year.

It will be interesting how the minutes between starters and the bench play out. It's interesting to know that, after three all - conference seniors graduate,  Point could start 4 seniors and a junior. Ryf and Ritchay both started last year and Richard played 14.4 minutes a game. Add junior guard Pelkofer and senior forward Lutz and you have a starting five with no one taller than 6'4". McCann averaged as many minutes as Lutz, but he's 6'4" too.

Point has height, just no experience.  Forseythe, Freeborn and Patterson are all 6'6" but have played sparingly.  Gjertson and freshamn Goedeke are 6'7".

I understand that Lucas Collum will miss the season due to injury. Bad news for the Eagles, and a tough break for a classy young gentleman.

What happened to him?

Heard it was knee related - didn't hear any specifics

Sorry, but I have no more info on Lucas Collom. BTW, I misspelled the gentleman's name in my earlier post. My apologies.

Took in a short practice for the Pointer Backcourt Club Appreciation Day - Pelkofer is healing well from the off season surgery, should be ready for the season start - Forsythe is in a cast after breaking a finger (Must be the "Tyler" curse) but shoud be ready to start season as well - Retzlaff out with an ankle injury.

Team putting a positive spin on upcoming season - returning 6 of the top 9 players from last year. Zack Goedeke looked good as a force on the boards, but not much more to tell from a scripted practice and short half-court scrimmage.

Two scrimmages set up, one at Mich Tech and one at home vs Wheaton. (November 1 at 1PM, but you didn't hear it from me ;) )

The WARHAWKS Men's Basketball team will take on Alma University at the Palace of Auburn Hills in suburban Detroit on Wednesday, November 26. The game is part of the Pistons Court of Dreams promotions and allows fans to purchase a ticket that is good for the Scots game at 2:30 p.m. and also for the Pistons-L.A. Clippers contest at 7:30 p.m.

Parkside. :(

The Badgers have trimmed down to one exhibition game and one intrasquad scrimmage, instead of two exhibition games. So I think they have put Parkside into the rotation with the WIAC schools.
