BW--There's a RF kid named Murphy who's out for bb at WW. He's the all-time leading scorer at RFHS, but he's only 5'9" and had some trouble academically in hs. I've looked at the roster but the new one is not up at the WW site. Do you know anything about how he's doing? He's a good kid, but whether he's ready for the WIAC /college is a question folks around here have.

Luke Murphy....made the team at WW....he's definitely not 5'9"....he's closer to between 6'1" and 6'2".  He's very strong down low and can post up guards at will.  Has a decent outside shot but definitely not his strength.  Where he struggles is on the defensive end.  I have a hard time believing he will be able to stay in front of guards in the WIAC.

Thanks, tomt4525. Yeah, he's bigger than I said he was, but I hear he's not happy at WW and may transfer.

Based on returning players, not sure who could challenge Point for the #2 spot.  I think there's a huge drop-off after the Big 2.

I know it won't be Stout, who gradulated 9 seniors and probably not La Crosse, who returns a total of 27 starts from returning players, 20 from Clint Rihn, who averaged a robust 2.4 PPG (No Callahan Skogman on returning roster??).
Rumor is he is choosing to pursue an acting career instead of playing hoops...

UWSP Beat Wheaton in all three halves of their scrimmage today 47-24 / 35-29 / 21-20

Joe Ritchay led balanced scoring throughout, but it was defense that won the opening stanza. Point looked to run at every opportunity. They led 30-15 in the second half before Braden Teuscher scored about ten points in the last two minutes to close the gap. Brad Freeborn buried a deep three with 5 seconds left to win the 10 minute sub half at the end. Zack Goedeke looked more comfortable in the offense than Luke Zuiker of the two freshmen. Aaron Retzlaff (leg) and Stephen Pelkofer (recovering from shoulder surgery) didn't dress and Tyler Forsythe played despite a broken finger that was heavily taped.

Wheaton of course graduated Tyler Peters and Nate Haynes, but returned three starters from last year's 21-9 squad. Point used a stifling defense to render the Thunder powerless from the start. Point lacks the superstars from last year's team, but have enough complimentary parts to make this an exciting season nonetheless. The falloff from last year may not be as steep as some think. Of course, the games haven't begun yet. The only question is who is the go to guy when they need points, we'll see who steps up as the season unfolds.

I think the purple/gold game is tonight for Point. Looking forward to your thoughts on the game from the usual suspects, Keaton, Fenster, McManus, Hockney and, of course, Verbal.  ???  ;D

Nice, one of my favorite movies.

I saw the women's preseason poll was announced, so hopefully the men's will be up tomorrow (fingers crossed).

Did anyone make the purple/gold game? I don't think Kobayashi (not the hot dog eating guy) and Redfoot made it.

Falcons fall to Division 2 Augustana, SD, 81-69 in an overtime exhibition game in Sioux Falls. Game tied 65 all in regulation. Augustana picked to finish 2nd in NSIC. Falcons looked better than predicted 8th place finish tonight with several good transfers and freshmen. One transfer, Jon Christensen from St. Scholastica, had a dbl/dbl w/17 pts., 10 rbds.
