Midway through the first half at Northwestern (MN) and Stout is down, 32-21. I think the Blue Devils borrowed our Noonball offense. Gonna take a break from the live stream before I become ill...

River takes a lead with 4:00 and change in the game, 61-60. Christiansen with a double double to this point, 13-10. Can't see the stream, but by the stats, looks to be a good game.

Sorry, can't edit posts yet :(

River winds up dropping the game to a tough Monmouth squad. Skrivseth has himself a nice team, outlasting a tough Falcon's group. Looks like the story of the game was 3-point shooting. River struggled to get anything going, hitting just 4-14 behind the arc. Also, looks like the Falcons struggled finishing plays as the Scots wound up with 16 OBoards.

Can't find the Stout score. The NW stats go right to an archived game. Anyone?

Point on now, nice little afternoon of WIAC hoops!

Titans over Alma 62-56.  Calvin today.  It's MIAC  week as Alma goes to Ripon.  Calvin lost to Ripon Friday as Ty Sabin went off for 38.
Note.  It is MIAA week.  Calvin, Alma, Olivet, Albion, Adrian, Hope, Trine and Kalamazoo make up the MIAA.  The oldest athletic conference in the US.

Sorry I lost my head.  ;D :o :o

Pelkofer with a game to remember tonight, that's for sure.  Too bad it came in a losing effort.  Lutz played well offensively but was repeatedly abused down low by Saarela and Nord.  That's the reason Point came up short.  POINT NEEDS SIZE!!!

Greek Tragedy

WIAC gets smoked tonight as Point, Oshkosh, River Falls and La Crosse all lose. Whitewater gets the win and another Championship yesterday (nice job, again, football).

First of all, I concur: tough day for the WIAC...

I got tied up with family stuff, and never made it in front of the computer for the Point/UST game. Looking at stats & reading the recap, I am sorry I didn't. What team goes for 60% from the floor, 53% behind the arc, and 80% from the line, not to mention commits only 4 turnovers AND LOSES????? Yikes. While I agree that the Pointers need size, I am not so sure that on most nights, those stats don't get a win, and not sure (especially without watching the video) a big fella would've been the difference. Doesn't seem that UST is huge, and they didn't live in the post, but I could be wrong.

The Bethel-LaCrosse score was crazy to me. Bethel is a contender in the MIAC, for sure. But LaCrosse "should" be a 2-4 finisher in the WIAC. Maybe I'm nostalgic, but I didn't think the cream of the MIAC (when it wasn't a UST N.C. team) should drop our top tier teams by 20+. I would have expected it to be much closer than that. (And with the win over River earlier, they have beaten WIAC teams by 15 and 22.

That brings me to the next game: Stout vs. Northwestern (MN). This is the second win for the UMAC against the WIAC (Scholastica over River), with the UMAC going 9-42 overall. Other wins for the UMAC include: Providence (Candada), Trinity Bible 2x, Faith Baptist, Crossroads 2x, Maranatha Baptist, and Luther College. Again, is it nostalgia, or should the WIAC not have to worry about dropping games to the UMAC?

The other games didn't stick out to me as big win/losses. Just those two. The Point game stuck out as one I wish I would've caught!

Sheesh At least the Lions are in the playoffs!!!!

WARHAWKS: 89
Kalamazoo: 53

Kalamazoo scored first but the WARHAWKS tied it and took the lead just under two minutes into the game and held a lead the rest of the way.  The lead reached double figures, 15-4, with just over five minutes gone and grew to as many as twenty four points before the half ended 48-27.   Kalmazoo would get no closer the rest of the game.

KJ Evans: 14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals.  Evans surpassed 1,000 career points scored with the effort.
Quardell Young: 13 points, 5 assists, 2 steals
Ron Patten: 11 points, 3-6 three pointers
Cole Van Schyndel: 10 points.  Nice effort off the bench.

Don't know if it was televised but I was there in person and height did play a factor in the second half.  Saarela was just too tall/long and kept knocking the ball away on Point's rebound attempts. Easily the Pointers best effort of the year so far. Tommies just hit key shots and time ran out on Point. If St. Thomas is legit at #6, UWSP isn't too far behind. I think poll voters will probably drop them down after their 3rd loss, but they are playing much better than they did in their loss to NCC.

Hoops--Yes, Bethel beat RF and Lax big. But RF and Point both lost to UST by two. Even so, there is, it seems at this early point, more  parity below WW than has recently been the case. I don't think Lax will finish in the top four. Point looks good enough to finish 2nd. Below that it's Pville, RF, Osh, in any order, then the rest. BUT IT'S EARLY YET.

MESSAGE TO RECRUITS:  IN DOUBT? ENROLL AT STOUT. DON'T CARE? GO TO EAU CLAIRE. AT A LOSS? TRY LACROSSE. FEELIN' OUTTA JOINT? YOUR PLACE IS POINT. DON'T LIKE THE REST? DO WHAT'S BEST!

GOT BALLS? PLAY FOR THE FALLS!

My last line is a quote from Hoops. I tried to get only the relevant part of the quote, but it did not work.

I will wholeheartedly agree that there is parity. Although I am not convinced it will shake out as you indicate, I think that it is entirely possible... In fact, I wouldn't be surprised by anything at this point!

Merry Christmas to all!!!

Actually the oldest conference west of the Alleghenies.

Saw the Lax/Bethel game.  They are very good, but short.  I don't think La Crisse will even make the conference playoffs.
