Pelkofer does so many things for this team.  I hate to say it, but if he's out for a significant amount of time...this season goes down the drain.

Titans win 67-61 in OT over LaCrosse in a WIAC grinder. Big finish by Max Schebel and Kyle Bolger vs. a determined combo of local LaCrosse players Coenen, Schmidt and DeBruin.  Big win for the Titans, the crowd is getting bigger at Kolf Sports Center.

RF 88, Stout 78. Ragland, though he did not start, led BD's w/18 Elliot and Keefe had 14, 13.

RF led by Christensen w/19. Deppe and Lewis had 10. Though RF built a 16 point lead early second half, they could not shake Stout, which got 14 offensive rbds.

Trying to find a sliver lining in a 15-point loss...

There was no Pelkofer,  so that didn't help. After scoring a career high of 24, Lutz was 0-9 for just 2 points. Ritchay was just 2-9 for 6 points.

Statistically,  aside from the horrible shooting performance, Point matched up pretty well. Was it bad shooting or great defense? Missing open shots or were they all contested?  Point was 8-12 from the line, Whitewater 10-15. Point actually out rebounded Whitewater 30-25. Won the TO battle 9-10 and "held" Young and Evans to 11 and 14 points, though Young had 10 assists. I obviously wasn't there so not sure how the Pointers actually played as a team without Pelkofer.

Any news on him? A boot isn't a good sign he'll be back anytime soon.

Semling said Pelkofer suffered a "severe ankle sprain" Tuesday in practice but he did not indicate how long that might keep him out of the line up.

Greek, here's a couple of post game comments from the coaches .

Miller: "We did a great job on the perimeter, keeping out in front of them ... making them play in traffic."

Semling: "We were bad tonight.  But they deserve credit for making us bad ... we never put them in a position where they were out of their comfort zone."

I'm not going to rag on your opinions here cuz I haven't checked all the stats....My only comment is watching Ryf this year, I think he needs to be a 1st teamer.  He has been scoring a lot more and is one of the elite defensive players in the league.

The Warhawk defense was the difference down the stretch as Point was not able to penetrate the lane in the second half. When their outside shots don't fall, teams can pack the lane against Point and that happened last night. I thought Zack Goedecke did pretty well, but he didn't see much of the floor in the second half. As a matter of fact there were no substitutions for Point in the last eleven minutes of the game and they were worn down on both ends of the floor, allowing easy inside baskets on defense and missing shots and making turnovers on the offensive end.

Egan was a load inside, had at least 3 and ones and Odegard seemed to hit every shot to blunt any momentum Point tried to develop. Not impressed by Evans and his 7 to's but Q Young is the real deal and his game is light years ahead of his FR/SO seasons and even last year. He was under control and in control the whole game.

Not having seen Augie in person I can't offer an opinion on them as a team, but after seeing Point play at St. Thomas and at WW, the Warhawks are a far better team.

02 Warhawk

I thought Point did a great job on Evans, he seemed to be frustrated all game. Q and Odegaard on the other hand gave Point fits all night. Both were able to penetrate and either get to the rim or dished it off to Evans and/or Egan down low for an easy lay in. Point guards had trouble keeping in front of them as the two UWW guards were consistently drawing fouls driving to the lane

I was very impressed with Odegaard. I'm glad to see him play a more assertive role in the offense, and not just relying on his outside shot. He seems to be taking the ball to the hoop more than he did in previous seasons. Q just has great vision and feel for the game, and made some terrific no-look feeds which led to easy buckets. He's fun to watch.

Great win for UWW, but I have a feeling it won't be as easy when we visit Point next.

Evans was sick and hadn't practiced all week.

Tomt4525-

I didn't think Point would get three 1st teamers, so I gave Richard the nod over Ryf because he averages 3 more points a game.
