BW,

Who was the smart man that called the coin flip for WW?  Did it come up heads or tails?  Haven't heard much about it not that it matters much.  Just would be nice to know where this event took place and who was there.

From what I've heard, it was at the WIAC conference swim and diving at Brown Deer, WI. When the results of the Point and Whitewater games came in or were known, they decided to do it on Saturday evening. As a side note, I was walking down the street in Milton, WI, a guy said thanks for calling heads for Whitewater. Did he know something we didn't ? I don't know.

For "Q", It's three times this season (LaCrosse, Platteville and EauClaire) that he's hit the game winner in the closing seconds.  Four times if you include the win over Williams in last year's national championship game.

Here's "Q" Young's game winner La Crosse on Saturday night..

Just wondering... Is UWW's "Q" Young on the short list to be named "Player of the Year" in D3 this season. I know he's one of the top 3 point guards to ever lace 'em up for the Warhawks.

I'd say Quardell Young is definitely on the 'short list'.  Probably the two leading candidates before the season began were Aaron Walton-Moss of Cabrini (but his team is doing rather poorly this season, which can't help) and Duncan Robinson (last season's Rookie of the Year for Williams, but now a Michigan Wolverine).  Others on the pre-season 'watch list' would have included Q's teammate K J Evans (who has been surpassed on his own team), Xavier Brown of Wooster (who again has probably been surpassed by one of his teammates, Dan Fanelly), Joey Flannery of Babson (both he and his team are doing very well, but he is only a sophomore, and no Duncan Robinson), and perhaps Q's leading competition now (IF Cabrini's so-so season works against Walton-Moss), Gerry Wixted of Dickinson (both he and his team are doing extremely well, and he is a senior which is usually a plus).  (Apologies to any worthy candidates I have overlooked.)

The CCIW has a number of excellent players, but I don't see any POY candidates; the same with the UAA, NESCAC, and ODAC (the other power conferences).

After starting the season 9-9, Cabrini has won 7 straight, and Walton-Moss just had his eighth TRIPLE-double of the season.  With nine losses and playing in a fairly weak conference, Cabrini will probably not even make the postseason unless they win their tourney.  That could hurt Walton-Moss, but I'd say it is now probably his award to lose after all.  Q is definitely short-list, but I don't think anyone will beat out AWM.

Greek Tragedy

Though an individual award, team accomplishments are important too. Cabrini has to make the tourney. Wasn't Cabrini kind of in disarray a little and even some discipline problems? I don't know if AWM was a part of that, but I do know he either sat some games or came off the bench. Not sure if that would be a factor with the voters.

This might answer part of your questions, from Twitter:

Chris Lindickie is today's MVP!!  His call of heads gets us the # 1 seed!  #UWWHOOPS

Now the question is - Who is Chris Lindickie? And is he related to former Packer QB Lynn Dickey?  bw, you're up!!

Coach Miller's spelling isn't very good. Chris Lindeke is the UWW Sports Information Director. I imagine he was at the WIAC Swimming Championships and represented UWW for the coin flip.

I disagree.  Oshkosh has been close in every loss and lost to Stevens Point on a half court shot.  If it's possible to trend up at 2-4, they are doing it.  >:(

I think this game will be a slugfest, meaning physical. Foul trouble for either team in the post could dictate end result.  If the oafs call it fair, I think the game is a toss-up. Bo Ryan Court is a distinct advantage but Juckem has the Titans ready to battle.  Your "Sager Rule" applies.  ;)

Thanks BoBo,

I assume one of the swimmers from SP represented the school?  Hope he or she didn't actually make the call but the SID from WW did.  Wouldn't want that on me.  Either way, what's done is done.  We'll see how it all shakes out after this week.  A new precedent is set!

Perhaps UWSP's swim coach or their SID. Then at least it would be a staff member.

Miller's tweet ("His call of heads gets us the #1 seed!") suggests that it was our SID who made the call.
