It's disappointing as a wiac fan in general because I was hoping for point vs whitewater down the road.  Doesn't take away from another great season and just goes to show the saying on any given night holds true especially in basketball.  Curious to see how far point can go without a true big man.  Does anyone else feel point has way overachieved this year?  I know these 6 guys were key role players the past few years but to lose the 3 guys they lost and win this many games is rather impressive considering they didn't bring in any studs or real consistent contributor.

Not sure if you looked at the bracket, but "down the road" would have been in the national title game.

And yes, Point has fully optimized their players this year. Getting everything out of them.

It's the Pointer way...  ;)
Congrats on the W tonight, and head on down that yellow-and-purple brick road!

I was going to say, how is that any different from any other year?

I get it but to lose those three studs no one could've expected this type of season.  I realize the 6 main guys are all better than average but they don't have anything even close to what Tillema or hass were last year and have just found a way.  Semling has to be coach of year in d3 best coaching job I've seen in long time.

I love this play by play guy, but I'm neutral, so...

That guy was great. Awesome to hear a neutral call from a student. Well done!

I didn't expect this. I know the conference was down, but to go 15-1 with Whitewater is pretty impressive. I always said this team wasn't as good as last year's, but maybe that's the pessimist in me. Maybe they are better since they aren't relying on Tillema and Haas to carry them. I mean, when was the last time all 5 starters averaged double-figures for the Pointers. Even McGann has scored in double-figures during the season.

Sucks to be whitewater but it happens point arguably should've lost last year to Marian first round.

Yeah, it really sucks to be Whitewater.  :D

I really don't understand this line of thinking. You lost last night and it sucks but somehow there's a correlation to Point's almost loss to Marian last year. Point won that game, and the next and nearly won their Elite 8 game. Yeah,  they weren't pretty, but they won two games in last year's tourney. Whitewater allowed 55 points in the 2nd half and were outscored by 20 last night.

Well, the good news is that there is probably no "line of thinking" for you to understand, at least in the quotes you have included in your response.  Shinetime is not a Whitewater guy and you say, "you lost" as if he were.  I think he was merely saying that as WIAC fans, we can't ever assume a victory in the NCAA's, even with a highly seeded team in the first round.

"You lost" could apply to me.  Fair enough.  But I didn't ever correlate or comment on a correlation to last year's Point/Marian game.   I was just making note of the wording of Shinetime's "sucks to be Whitewater" quote because obviously it does not.  "Sucks for Whitewater" that we lost in the first round? Yup.  "Sucks to BE Whitewater?".  Nope.  But, as evidenced by my emoticon, it was just a light hearted response and tip of my hat to our guys that it most definitely does NOT suck to follow the athletes of the most successful athletic program in the country (at least in sports anybody ever heard of).

I doubt I will get a response because when someone makes a post as off based as yours, rarely will the poster even acknowledge the reply.  But either way, good luck to the Pointers the rest of the way.   ;)

Maybe it sucks to be Whitewater for a couple hours this weekend, but not overall and not for long.

It was a general "you". Whitewater, not you (my apologies), lost last night so what does that have anything to do with Point almost losing last year? Wjy even bring that up? That was my point.

I wasn't trying to get anyone upset what I meant was anything can happen in tourney as evidenced by whitewater losing first round.  I brought up point last year as comparison because they were number 1 all year and got very lucky to beat marian.  Obviously I have nothing but respect for whitewater their clearly at the top of do sports in essentially the 3 major sports.  Just sucked to see a team that great and loaded lose first round when u know they were capable of repeating.
