That's true, I've been quiet most of the season....mostly not by choice though.  I have had terrible luck with the Stevens Point live feed.  I have no clue what's going on but have had problems with it basically every game.  It keeps cutting in and out and I get to watch maybe halves of each game.  I don't want to give my analysis of games if I've barely been able to see it.  The IT deparment at UWSP needs to get their ish together, been really frustrating.

With that said, this team has been really fun to watch, especially late in the season.  They have mostly made up for their lack of height and length by playing team basketball, any 1 of 6 players can lead the team offensively on any given night and that's difficult to gameplan for opposing coaches.

I've been thinking about next season already a little bit because I haven't heard of any recruits or transfers into the program yet.  Normally I wouldn't pay too much attention during the season to this but this is a big recruiting year, losing 4 starters and most of the bench not getting much playing time.  They need some players that can probably step in immediately.  I assume that Unteidt, Freeborn, Zuiker and possibly Geodeke will have much larger roles next season but it'll be interesting to see what happens.

Worthy of taking note: http://www.d3hoops.com/playoffs/men/2015/sectional-hosts-announced?t=1425838998807&t=1425839002455

UW-Stevens Point is hosting the men's sectional for the fifth time in 10 seasons.

That's a pretty amazing feat, especially in a region that has win the national title in 7 of those 10 years (and 8 of the last 11).

It's no guarantee of success... SP has gotten to Salem 2/4 times when hosting (those darn UAA teams have been a buzz saw). That's as opposed to just 1/4 times away from home.

In the sectional semis, Point is 5-3 (losing 3 of the last four). In the sectional championship, Point is 3-2 (winning all 3 of the last 3). And not to get ahead of ourselves, but Point has never lost a game in Salem.

No guarantee but like UWSP chances to make Final Four out of the bracket.  Hum, for that matter, I liked IWU's chances if we could get by UWSP!

Emory scares me. They won the toughest conference this year. They also have a stud in the middle in Alex Foster. And,  regardless of circumstances, we lost to them last year...and as I have contended,  Point was better last year.

Point was the best team in the country last year, and I don't think it was that close....nobody will be able to change that opinion.  The loss to Emory last season was a tough pill to swallow.

Point was ripe for an upset last year, as noted by the close two NCAA games. They certainly weren't running on all cylinders. But anybody that beat them would have upset them.

But there's a look about this team this year. All of a sudden. It wasn't there during the Oshkosh game a week and a half ago. But this team is different all of a sudden. Sometims a late season loss can do that.

I get that last year Point had star power. But it was also clear where the bulk of the scoring was coming from. The guys who have stepped up and become leaders for Point were role players last year and deferred to the Seniors.

This year, it's as pure of "Pointer basketball" as has ever been seen. It rivals the championship years. Finding the open guy, making the extra pass, challenging every shot, applying hard ball pressure, getting deflections, taking care of the ball.

Who are you going to shut down? Ryf? Ritchay will burn you. Shut them both down? Lutz or Richard are ready to step up. And Pelkofer and McGann are more than capable of hurting you. All while the defense is wearing you down. That wasn't as much the case last year by a long shot... The big two (three with Big Red in the middle) weren't often PDF at the same time.

This years team came in with low expectations but had much more experience than initially billed. It took a while to get the team's identity, but due to their experience, they had the possibility to become an excellent defensive team. And now things are coming together offensively.

Showing of defense...

IWU, who averaged 78 pts this year and scored twice in the 70's, twice in the 80's and once in the 90's in the five preceding games was held scoreless for the final 7:16 of the game. That was in large part due to the sustained defensive pressure and to Point's defensive adjustments. IWU really liked Point in the last 6 minutes of the first half and SP responded.

Has anyone ever done what the Warhawks' Quardell Young did this season?-- POY, First Team All WIAC, All Defense Team, All Sportsmanship Team. Perhaps someone has mentioned it already, but that's a remarkable achievement, one that's rarely, if ever, accomplished. Congratultions to him.
