The state of Wisconsin trying hard to get another National Championship in basketball as Wisconsin defeats Kentucky 71-64. That made my day. 8-)

I thought Kentucky would lose to Notre Dame one round earlier. I was close.
Good luck Bo Ryan trying to win title #5.

I picked Wisconsin over Duke in the championship game in my office pool.  Rarely do I ever pick a Final Four team, so this is unprecedented for me.  On Wisconsin!

UWGB coaching search

Hey BW,

Any word out of Whitewater if Miller is interested or if UWGB is interested in him?

I don't know the protocol...do schools need to get permission to talk to coaches from other schools? I imagine at this level there aren't any "buy out" clauses in coach's contracts where the boosters pick up the 6-figure tab!  ;D  ::)

Regardless of protocol, there is no way AD Edmunds or Chancellor Telfer would deny permission for UW-GB to talk to Pat.  Neither has any interest in standing in anyone's way.  That being said, Coach Miller is not interested in leaving UW-W for UW-GB.

I just don't get the feeling that UW-GB has any interest in either Semling or Miller.  I could be mistaken but that the vibe I'm getting.  Pat was in Indianapolis for the Final Four so they could have spoken with him there if they had wanted to.  However from everything being reported it would appear that they didn't.  I have no idea of Pat's interest in the job.  BP probably knows more about that than I do.  Personally as his friend I'd be happy for him if it did happen.  He's done a remarkable job in WHITEWATER.

If it's a D-III guy it will be Grzesk. He's a Green Bay lifer and someone the UWGB fan base already knows.

No mention of either Semling or Miller would suggest neither is in the mix.

Is UWGB AD Mary Ellen Gillespie related to the recently passed Gordie Gillespie from Ripon?

It appears UWGB has gone a bit off the board for their new head coach:

Or not?

http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/story/sports/college/uwgb/2015/04/10/reports-new-uwgb-hire-false/25608003/

I thought that was interesting considering today's press gazette said they were going to start a 2nd round of interviews with candidates and interview a few others that they didn't get a chance to at the Final Four.

BTW, here's todays article that I had already posted on the MWC page.

http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/story/sports/college/2015/04/09/former-wisconsin-prep-standout-tokoto-enters-nba-draft/25555079/

So in other D1 news, former Menomonee Falls star, J.P. Tokoto, is forgoing his senior season at North Carolina to enter the NBA draft.

At the end of the article, Tokoto, who was on the All-Defensive ACC team, said, "I feel like there can be a lot more to me as a player, more than just the defensive player who can occasionally dunk the ball," Tokoto told the website. "I know I can be so much more, but I'm not sure that I'm pushed to be that much more (in college)."

Really? College isn't pushing you enough? You averaged 6.7 points a game and 4.4 rebounds a game over your college career. You know you won't be a 1st rounder (only they are guaranteed contracts) and you still want to go?

I only bring him up because I remembered him during my days of living in nearby Brown Deer. He was the "IT" in the area. He transfered from Falls and went to some prep school prior to going to NC.

I also find it interesting that SEVEN Kentucky players are headed to the draft, including a few that were reserves averaging less than 20 minutes a game and averaging around 7 points a game. Apparently they hate school that much.
