Point and Whitewater tied for sixth halfway through the league. Yep, that's exactly what my preseason prediction said.... What? You guys didn't read that?

Great road  win for Platteville tonight. WW ties it with a 3 with less tHan 10 seconds left P-villes Boston Johnson gets a good look in the lane but no go so OT. P-ville maintained an advantage throughout the OT WW was always in striking  distance.  Platteville was awesome from the line in OT and came away with tough road win.

Eau Claire with back-to-back victories over Whitewater and Oshkosh....  Gonna guess Coach Gibbons' twitter feed has been pretty quiet this week!!!    ;D

Probably means Stout will get off the snide now and get their first WIAC win against UWEC on Saturday!!!

Just the stats

The most teams to ever tie for a conference championship were 5 in 1948 (Milwaukee, Oshkosh, Platteville, River Falls, Stevens Point). We're heading that way!

badgerwarhawk

Platteville: 78
WARHAWKS: 75  OT

Each team had 29 baskets.  The WARHAWKS had a pair of three pointers more but the game was decided at the free throw line.  Platt: 16-17  WW: 11-16

The game turned in the Pioneer's favor with roughly two and half minutes to play in OT when they led 74-71 and we missed our next three shots and turned the ball over.   Platteville only led by five and the WARHAWKS pulled to within a point but the Pioneers went 6-6 from the free throw line in OT and we just couldn't get over the hump.  Stampley had a decent look at the end but it was from about 20-25 feet and the shot was off the front of the rim.  Four conference losses by 13 total points.  We just can't finish.  Fourteen ties and eleven lead changes.

Is traveling still a violation or did that change with the new rules?  It's rhetorical, I know it didn't change I just wish the officials in our league would recognize it.

Trinson White: 20 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists
Haki Stampley: 19 points, 7 rebounds
Andre Brown: 10 points, 3 assists, block, steal
Points off turnovers: 11-2

Pioneers:
Duax: 22 points
Johnson: 18 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists
Vaassen: 12 points, 9 rebounds 2 assists
Bench points: 32-18

The Pioneers quickness gave us some problems defensively.  #10 Oestreich is really quick.

Sorry, I just don't have the motivation to type anything more.

A decade and a half ago, this conference was regularly described as the Wacky WIAC.

Half way through the year, sure seems like we're back there again.

Anyone can beat anybody else on a given night... Should be an exciting second half!

With WW and RF losing on Wednesday... are we on the verge of having NO WIAC teams even receive votes in the top 25?

Whitewater fell out of the poll two weeks ago and is sitting at 14 poll points (and one loss).

They're 12-6 now and have to go TO RF Saturday (who they lost to by 5 two and a half weeks ago).

We're already in unknown territory... without a WIAC team in the rankings. Yikes!

That being said, no one will want to play a WIAC team in the NCAA tournament.   ;)

Despite being in 7th place, I'm cautiously optimistic for the Pointers in the next 3 games, two at home. Next up is a game against Oshkosh, previously losing to them by 5 at home. Point had the lead for most of the game until Oshkosh went on a huge run to clinch it. On Wednesday we host Whitewater,  another close loss where we were getting blown out, rallied, but to only fall short at the end. Lastly, next weekend, we host River Falls, an 8-point loss on the road, previously. I suppose, now that I posted my rare optimism, they'll lose all 3!

Pelkofer and McGann scored ~85% of the Pointers points in that game vs. Oshkosh.  More balance is needed for them to play with the Titans.  The Semling D was there, I wonder if they can score enough?  ???

Point wins, going away, 55-42. Oshkosh scored 8 points in the last 10 minutes of the 2nd half. Point shot 36% but held the hosts to 27%.
