Are the pointers even trying to win the wiac next year?  Lacrosses third team will be better than most teams starting 5.

There's been accusations that Point is just plain greedy. They've won 4 National titles since 2004, the high school team just repeated the State title and the men's hockey team has been to 3 Final Fours in a row, winning last season. The University has decided to put an end to all of this "winning". The men's team will start recruiting next year in time to win it all in 2020, as scheduled (won in 2005, 2010 and 2015). Sorry, we didn't want to mislead anyone.

It's posts like these that make me wonder why I even bother reading these boards.  Is there an ignore function??  We need one.

Since when do freshman win championships in the WIAC??  Sure, bringing in 13 freshman will help with their depth, especially in practice...but huge recruiting classes aren't specifically winning you any league championships.  In fact, I like Oshkosh's recruiting class more than I do La Crosse's.  Oshkosh is bringing in quality over quantity.  The quality is going to fill some holes and they will be very tough next year.

I do really like Point's recruiting class too.  I think they are bringing in a couple guys that are going to be really good players as upperclassmen.  After all, recruiting is all about projecting the future.  Knez will be a very good defensive point guard who does the little things to help you win.  Ehrke and Koerner I think can be focal points of the offense.  Spray looks like he can bring some length on defense along with hitting open looks.  Robinson is the defensive stopper.  With what Point brings back, I'm excited to see how they develop.

"Quality over quantity"--well said.  LaCrosse can't possibly keep all those players happy.

Going the "quantity" route has seemed to work well for SNC over in the Midwest Conference.   Just saying....  ;)

Midwest Conference isn't the WIAC...SNC can pretty much coast through their conference schedule, atleast that's how it's been lately...minus Carroll...who left the conference this year.

Yet SNC is still 7-3 against the WIAC over the past four years...

Anyway, the main reason I posted the whole "quantity" thing was because of how some took issue with SNC having large recruiting classes the last few years.  Now that La Crosse has a large group this year, it seems the attention has turned to them.

Yet SNC is still 7-3 against the WIAC over the past four years...

SNC versus (last 4 seasons):

Overall: 94-13 (.879)

MWC: 69-3 (.958)
MWC Tournament 8-0 (1.000)
Non-con 17-10 (.630)

WIAC: 7-3
CCIW: 2-4
OAC: 0-1
MIAA: 1-2
(plus assorted other one-off wins against conferences they didn't lose to in this stretch).

Before we downplay the WIAC's success against SNC, we've got as many wins as their entire CONFERENCE has against them in 4 seasons. And the conference has had 62 additional regular season games (plus 8 MWC tournament games).

Just look at the records.

12-13: 20-6 Non-con: 3-3  (0-1 NCAA, lost to CCIW #3, at-large) MWC: 15-3 MWC Tournament 2-0
13-14: 25-2 Non-con: 5-2 (1-1 NCAA, lost to CCIW #1, at-large) MWC: 18-0 MWC Tournament 2-0
14-15: 24-2 Non-con: 4-2 (0-1 NCAA, lost to CCIW #3, at-large) MWC: 18-0 MWC Tournament 2-0
15-16: 25-3 Non-con: 5-3 (2-1 NCAA, lost to MIAA #2, Pool A) MWC: 18-0 MWC Tournament 2-0

SNC looks more and more like a big fish in a small pond. The best Non-conference record vs their limited non-con record was 5-2. They've bowed out to three at-large teams.
