I see that at Alverno the new UWSP athletic director was the AD, the head coach of the basketball team, and the head coach of the golf team. The UWSP job is going to feel like a vacation by comparison. ;)

Jared Joslin, a 6'7" Forward from Port Edwards, will be attending UWSP.  He's ranked 41st in the Wisconsin Senior Top 50.  From what I've gathered, he seems like a post that knows he's a post.  He has a little bit of a football mentality.  The articles I've read didn't verify he'd be playing basketball at UWSP, but it seems like a safe bet that he'd be giving it a go if he's ranked that highly going to a D3.

Maybe... but realistically, he'll have twice as many head coaches to work with (probably more than twice... since he was the WBB and Golf coach himself) and an athletic program that includes both women AND men (and everything else that Title IX requires in that regard).

The article mentions Point's athletic success... and often with that success comes many... colorful individuals... at the helm of each program.

I'm not thinking of anyone in particular, just a general comment. I don't know very many of the coaches who are still at UWSP that were there when I was.

How do you transfer from Army?  Do they release you from your commitment?

I believe if you leave an academy before year 3 then they release you from your commitment.  The military and that commitment isn't for everyone so they allow cadets to leave.  I might be incorrect but that's my understanding

Gregory Sager

That's correct. About a decade ago Carthage had a player named Brian Schlemm who who had transferred in from the Air Force Academy after playing there for one season.

University of Wisconsin-Superior Forward Zach Schradle will be transferring to UW-La Crosse.  This is a big get for La Crosse, averaged 22 a game in the UMAC and was a very solid player in the WIAC when Superior was a part of the conference.

I believe that makes the LaCrosse pre-season roster player total 37.

Schradle had a huge year last year for UWS.  He was recognized as all west region by D3hoops and NABC.  He was UMAC player of the year and the numbers he put up were stupid.  Had one of the best single seasons in UWS history.  Scored more points last season than Jake Smith the all time leading scorer in yellowjacket history.  He will be a huge addition to LaCrosse

Greek Tragedy

Works out pretty conveniently for him as he doesn't have to sit a year too, right? Wonder if that was planned.

Would not have mattered had he transferred the year before as 2 players from the women's team that won the conference regular season title in 14-15 transferred out of Superior and played immediately.  He could have transferred last year and not been forced to sit.

Just to put a bit more perspective on things and yes i understand the arguments can be made that he played in the UMAC but the numbers he put up were gaudy.

would have led the WIAC in scoring as he scored 578 points on the season Christensen scored 501
had 232 rebounds on the season White and Christensen had 234 and 237 respectively.
had 100 assists which would have led the league Keefe had 91
the 246 ft's he attempted would have ranked 3rd all time in WIAC history

LaCrosse is getting a big time addition to their roster

I know you mentioned this in your post, but the UMAC and WIAC are completely different leagues in terms of talent and competiveness.  I will not take anything away from Schradle, as his numbers were pretty insane.  With that said, we got to see what Schradle could do in the WIAC as well.  He's a very good player in the league.  He is a player I would expect to be an All-Conference player next year.  Yes, he's a huge addition to any team in the conference.  La Crosse does lose a lot of their firepower next season and needed a guy like Schradle to come along.  Schradle and Meinholz will be tough to guard together with their good size on the wing and quickness.  Other than that, La Crosse will have to lean on guys that either have been role players or new players to fill in their other spots.  Their recruiting class has been well documented on here but freshman haven't typically been leaned upon for big roles in this league.  Koelbl has a lot to figure out with his roster once the season starts.

Greek Tragedy

Ok, I must have been mistaken. I thought there was (or used to be) an intra-conference rule where you had to sit out a year if you transferred from one WIAC school to another. Maybe there was a stipulation where you didn't have to sit out if it was within your 1st two years of school. Or maybe I should just lay off the "good stuff". My apologies.  ???  ???
