Former Grafton standout Scotty Tyler has transferred from D1 Milwaukee to UW-Whitewater.  6'7" Post player.  Big get for Whitewater.

Always surprised when a transfer can meet the strict academic admittance standards of Whitewater.  Must be a bright kid.  ;)

Ummm...

"Speaking on condition of anonymity, a former teammate at Clayton High school told me..."

"A WIAC opponent heard Schradle say, 'I'll be back in the WIAC next year'"...

"Last year, an unnamed Superior senior in 2014 found an email written to the WIAC by Schradle asking about the transfer policy for the conference..."

;D :D ;) :) :P ::)

Or, the way they do it now, if they hear someone speak the rumor aloud, they call it "sources say."

Platteville and the Badgers play an exhibition game on Oct 30, Gard vs Gard the game will be called the Brain Cancer Awareness Game.  Oct. 30 is the 1 year anniversary of Jeff and Greg's dads death from Brain Cancer.  The other WIAC coaches let Platteville go out of turn in the rotation to make this happen.

I read the story in the paper today and thought it was a cool idea.

I got my D3 News Preseason Preview today.  It has about a paragraph on expectations for each conference along with some predictions.  About what i expected, they had the top 3 as La Crosse, Oshkosh and Eau Claire.  Very weird not seeing both Point and Whitewater in those preseason rankings but I expect both of them to make noise.  Their preseason conference player of the year was a bit of a wild card, as they chose Garret Pearson of River Falls.  It looks like they don't know that Schradle has transferred to La Crosse as they had Schradle listed as a preseason All American for Superior.  The fact that they don't know that fact and still have La Crosse as the league favorite is definitely surprising to me.  La Crosse was 16th in their top 25, no other WIAC teams included.

Christopher Newport was their number 1 team and UWSP gets to travel out there to play them.  That will be a fun one.

Isn't that a neutral site game?

Yes, Point and CNU play in Baltimore, at Stevenson for the Hoopsville invite. Christopher Newport is in Newport News, Virginia.

Still, 4 hours for CNU is considerably closer than the 15+ hours it would take for UWSP...

I knew it was a neutral site game for Christopher Newport, but I thought it was closer than 4 hours.  I stand corrected.

The big question will be how the CNU faithful travel.  I suspect if they're pre-season #1 (as they very well might be), it could be a good crowd.  They've got a pretty rabid fanbase and easy season excitement could make it a road game for Point.  The Stevenson gym is big, though - I've never seen it remotely full at the Hoopsville tournament except for Stevenson games.

D3hoops has Stevenson's Owings Mills Gym's capacity at 1200. I wouldn't qualify that as "big". That's barely big enough for NCAA tournament hosting requirements (min. 1000?).

You live in the midwest.  Maybe it's just 1200, but it feels a bit bigger.  http://gomustangsports.com/facilities/owings-mills-gym

I know how to estimate crowds in D3-sized gyms, and I can tell you for a fact that, if the side not fully shown in that picture has the same seating configuration as the fully-shown side (sans benches and scorer's table, of course), the capacity is closer to 1,300 than to 1,200.

But, yeah, that's not a big gym at all by overall D3 standards in terms of seating capacity.

Wow, that is an awesome skill.  How many credits does NP give for that?  ;D
