Right, bball 122. Our program had it wrong, listing the players as I listed them above. Stritzel is listed fy, first year? Is that a red ****/grey shirt guy who's really a second year player?

Nope, he's a true freshman.  Not sure why they choose to list it that way - Carleton being Carleton, they're probably just being smarter than the rest of us.

Minnesota schools tend to use FY meaing "first year" rather than "freshman" so as not to appear gender-biased. It's a colloquial quirk.

The first and still most accurate description of the D3 Championship BeltTM thread.

I think a lot of schools do that, from what I've seen.

That's certainly the case in NESCAC.  Personally, I prefer 'Frosh' unless obviously discussing only males.

Greek Tragedy

Only one game on the WIAC schedule tonight. After having a cakewalk against usual punching bag and annual bottom feeder Augustana, Oshkosh takes on perennial title contender Finlandia.

Greek, you've obviously been spending WAY too much time on the 'winless' fantasy contest! ;D

Only 2 WIAC games for 12/8

Hope @ Platteville

Whitewater vs. Adrian

Not sure who has a weaker non conference schedule between the two - both really bad

In the grand scheme of things, yes, UWW and UWP may be playing weaker non-conference schedules this year than say a UWSP, but I would definitely not count Hope (UWP today), St. Norbert (UWW on 12/30), and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (both) as "really bad" non conference games. Even though CMS is having a down year so far, that is still a pretty solid program. Hope and St. Norbert are obviously good programs with a lot of recent success. Seems like teams have different scheduling strategies to get ready for the conference season during the non-conference, especially because the WIAC is such a battle year in and year out.

Adding to Hindsight's post...CMS was playing without their best player, a preseason All American, which would obviously have a huge part in a slow start for them.  He could be back now, but was definitely not playing when WW played them.  These schedules are made in advance, there is no way you can take into account injuries and transfers.  Hope, St Norbert and CMS are all upper-echelon non conference opponents.

Riley056

Did not say every team on the schedule is bad - yes those are good teams to play - and Hope is usually better than this years team

Also hard to predict CMS injuries

Greek Tragedy

I'm with Riley on this one. Whitewater, especially, has played a weak NC schedule year in and year out. That's part of the reason why I took them in the survivor league is because of their cupcake pre-conference schedule. Yeah, you two named three solid programs between the 2 schools' schedules. That 3 out of 22 NC games. You can argue these schedules have been made years in advance, but when you annually schedule traditional cupcakes, the argument doesn't hold much water.

I kind of remember Williams losing some season openers a few times that were a bit more inconceivable than this one. :)

I received a message regarding Williams.....So. Vermont won 24 and 25 games the two years they beat Williams on opening night, those are Williams only two opening night losses in the D3 hoops archives...

my knowledge of Adrian was that they were picked DEAD LAST in preseason MIAA poll, and that they had lost to Case, who lost to Greenville (yes, my SLIAC guys),  For them to not only beat UWW, but beat them badly, holding them to 53 points... absolutely crazy!!
