There's a third pretty-darn-near-7-footer; he hasn't gotten much playing time. Third twin?

Third twin ?  You must have went to Whitewater.

Jack Bennett is considering getting back into coaching. He has interviewed at D2 Lewis University along with Scott Trost from Illinois Wesleyan and Mark Scherer from Elmhurst. An announcement could come anyday.

Arent there 1-2 more 6-10+ kids at Stout now? I swore I saw one more, other than the twins.

The BlueDevils have a 3rd seven footer. He is freshman Jesse Piehl from Tripoli IA.

And another 6-10 kid, correct? Being from the IIAC, I remember the redshirting that used to go on in the WIAC..is  Eddie trying to have 7 footers for the next 6 -7 years?

Jake Augustine is a 6'10" freshman. While there is no red shirting in D3 anymore, Piehl was gray shirted his true freshman year. I am pretty sure Augustine is a true freshman this year.

And, I am quite sure Eddie would love a couple 7 footers every year.  ;)

How'd you like to be Jeff Birkhof, new UW-RF coach? Though I haven't seen it confirmed officially, the rumor is that Hoeg and Zylstra have both quit the team to go into their own knife selling business. In fact, they have, or will, quit school.

The quitting has nothing to do with the coaching change.

Fred, Are you serious on them quitting school to go into the knife selling business?  ???

We need more details on this story.

Fred-
You should have posted this about a week ago.  People (myself included) would have thought it was a great April Fools Day joke. ;D

I, also, think this sounds like an April Fool's joke but I don't think mayors of  cities should get into that silly stuff.  If it is true, it is an amazing blow to a new coach trying to get something started. Those two guys were looking very good at the end of the year.  I am thinking the mayor will have to get back into the recruiting business ( Melzer).  I do hear that the RF high school kid might just stay in your fair city.  Is that true Fred?  I don't think he will be a difference maker but he did have some nice hs games.  Seems to be one of those Inbetweeners to me.  Does not like to face the basket and yet a bit small for the post work.

Did I bite on an April Fools joke?  ???

Since it is April 7th I figured the mayor had a scoop.

Too bad it's not an April Fool's Day joke. I wish it was. Yes, they have a knife selling business together, I'm told, and it's evidently done quite well. I got this first from a dad of one of the players, then from several other sources. Haven't had a chance to talk to Rick Bowen or Jeff yet, but it sounds solid to me.

Any freshmen, like Voeltz, who wants to play sooner than usual should consiider the Falcons. The EC Leader had Voeltz considering Point, RF and other WIAC schools. He would definitely have to learn to play on the perimeter. But he's a very good kid, smart, a worker, and has some potential.

Wow, Hoeg is a stud.

Don't you have to sit out a year if you transfer from one WIAC school to another?

OS, I think when Fred referred to Voeltz he was talking about a current HS senior at River Falls HS who is a would be freshman next fall, not a current WIAC freshman.

FYI, I believe you need to sit a year if you transfer from one WIAC school to another after your sophomore season.  Transferring after your freshman season incurs no penalty.
