BDB

I am starting to get concerned about the lack of old school postings.

Living on other boards or maybe in the slammer?  ???

Old School...what's up?   :)

Gardow out at Mondovi after one year??? Anyone know that story?

Greek Tragedy

BDB,

No worries...been on some other boards since there isn't any news in our conference.

The big story in the CCIW is who will get the IWU job, and then of course, that's news in the MWC because Lawrence coach John Tharpe is a candidate.

The NIIC and the LMC are combining to form the new NathCon...so that's kind of news.

Believe me, I've been checking the various team pages hoping someone comes up with a 2006-2007 schedule!  ;D

Coaching, Athletic Director changes-Monday (5/1/06)
May 1, 2006
With the retirement of athletic director Mark Froehle at the end of the school year, Memorial H.S. creates a new position, Dean of Athletics, and names Mike Blair to fill that spot. Blair has been athletic director at Chippewa Falls. Elk Mound goes back to the past to fill its boys basketball coaching vacancy, selecting Dan Pedersen to coach the Mounders. Pedersen had been Elk Mound's boys coach from 1979-2002. Mondovi is searching for a new boys basketball coach, as Eric Gardow says he won't re-apply for the position after one year on the job. Gardow, a North H.S. and UWEC grad, says he wants to stay in coaching, either moving to the collegiate level or with a professional team overseas.

Did the Titans get any more players since the fishing dude ?

Milwaukee Pius player Kevin Maciejeski will play at Oshkosh while Brad Zuiker will go to Point.  The former averaged 12 pts and 4 boards, while Zuiker did 6 and 4.

Former Pointer Joe Zuiker went to Port Edwards, not sure if the two are related.

Sheboygan Press POTY, John Dekker, 6'5" forward who averaged 25.8 a game and is the city points leader, is headed to Lawrence to play for John Tharp, who according to the article, has known the Dekker family for a long time now.

Ran into Gardow at a golf outing...    said he's got a few possibilities, but nothing solid at this point.

Eddie, get him back at Stout!

I attended Coach Bennett's retirement banquet tonight.  It was very nice.  I'm glad to have been able to be a part of it and also to have been a part of this coach's great legacy.

Coaches Koelbl and Miller spoke tonight on Coach Bennett's behalf.  It goes to show their respect for him, but it also goes to show the amount of class and coaching talent in the coaches throughout the leage.

That's cool.  I wasn't aware there was one, or at least when it was!  Oh well.  Hope it went well and there was a nice showing.

Was Ted Van Dellen there ?

Not that I saw.  There were a LOT of people there.  The only current coaches I saw were Koelbl, Miller, and Semling.  But there may have been others, and I just missed them.

Is he really retiring, or will he be like his brother and coach like 15 more years?

Good luck to Jack whatever his future plans involve.  Though I've given him a hard time on a few occassions here I have a lot of respect for him and what he's accomplished at Stevens Point.  Nobody, year in and year out, got kids to play defense like he did.
