North St. Paul/WOTN PG Bryce Phillips will continue his basketball career for UW-RF.

Hoops Junkie

I have heard that DIII Washington University in St. Louis met with five candidates at the Final Four. I heard that a Big West assistant, an Ivy League assistant, and a WIAC head coach are all involved.

This was posted on hoopdirt.com today.

I have a couple guesses buts that all they would be

I'm sure that Wash U needs to do their due diligence, but I was under the assumption the assistant at Wash U was almost assured the job.

Oshkosh recruit

Brandon Whiteside, 6'1" SG from Glenbard South HS in west suburban Glen Ellyn, IL has committed to Oshkosh. Whiteside, an All-Area player, averaged 18.5 PPG. He also led his team in rebounds, steals, and threes, and went to the line nearly 200 times.

Apologies to whomever needs them if this has previously been posted.  :D

I got names of those they have met with... not sure what HoopDirt reported as his reporting this year has been off (noticed that in the Gettysburg intel he posted a few weeks ago)...

I'll say this... the Big West assistant would be news to me... Ivy League assistant, eh maybe... WIAC coach sounds about right... but there are other candidates than that.

Bangor 6'4" F, Caleb Miedema, will play college basketball at Stout.

Green Bay Notre Dame 6'7" F, Matthew Rader, will continue his basketball career at Oshkosh.  Good get for an Oshkosh program that will add to an already very deep frontline.  St Thomas (MN) was also a finalist.

So, you could say UST was on Matthew's Rader (radar)?

Dubuque Wahlert (IA) 6'7" F, Peter Timmerman, will play basketball at UWSP.  It's abnormal for UWSP to recruit outside the state of Wisconsin, I hope Timmerman works out well.

I seem to recall UWSP recruiting a few Chicagolanders over the past several seasons.

They have gotten a few lately from Illinois, most recent recruits haven't worked out.  Bill Patterson had injury problems.  Robby Nardini came to Point to play basketball but quit before the season started.  They have had a few transfers from kids who were from outside Wisconsin but I was mainly talking incoming Freshman.  I've been following their recruiting since the mid 2000s and I don't remember a single Iowa kid.  I'm glad Semling is branching out, wherever he can get the talent to help him compete for Conference Championships, I'm all for it.

One of the better recruits I remember suiting up for UWSP was an Illinois kid named Jason Kalsow...  Obviously he was a Bennett recruit, but had Mike Heidemann taken a chance, Kalsow likely never steps foot on campus at UWSP.

I had mentioned a potential Point recruit, Tanner Brandt, had committed to play at UW- Parkside recently.  That didn't last long, he must have recently gotten an offer from Winona St...and jumped on it.  He will play for the Warriors now.
