Let the speculation begin:

Now that Juckem has left Oshkosh, one has to wonder if his departure will cause any of this year's UWO recruits to reconsider their commitments and to look to possibilities at other schools. After all, they certainly won't be playing for who recruited them, and who was undoubtedly a major factor in their decision making process.

My guess is it will depend on who takes over for Juckem.  If the assistant gets the nod, he might be able to keep the class in tact as he was undoubtedly included in on recruiting those kids.  Having 3 out of state kids might complicate things a little too as they may be harder to hold onto with a coaching change.

My early money is on Gary Grzesk of St. Norbert. No inside knowledge. Just seems like it would make sense. Step up in competition. Doesn't have to relocate far. Doesn't have to rebuild.

I was texting back and forth with a fellow poster and mentioned his name as well. He's applied for the UWGB gig twice. He's dominated the MWC. Time for a change and as you said, not too far south down I-41.

Great minds think alike, gentlemen. Gary Grzesk was the first name I thought of as well.

It would be a perfect situation for Gary - coming off a big talent run at the old place and into a loaded situation.  I suspect some of the other candidates rumored for WashU might've been in the opposite situation, which made it a difficult decision.  Juckem had to give up a lot, but I've heard, more than once in this process, many coaches think WashU is the best gig in D3.

Grzesk has been really close to landing the GB job. My $ is on him hanging at Norbs to get him a third swing at that cat if Darner doesn't show big improvement next season.

I don't think this will affect incoming recruits much. Sure, you build a relationship in that process but most D3-bound athletes gotta know better. They've already seen guys come and go from other schools in their own recruiting process

If your Gary, and you really think you are that close to a D1 job, does taking another D3 really make sense? A bigger D3 pond, sure. Is it that much of a difference that it would have an impact on what the job after that is? Not so sure.

I don't think Grzesk staying at SNC would help him get a potential opening at GB simply because he sticks around the area, if that's what you mean, WW.

I really have no idea "how close" Grzesk has been to getting the GB job or even if he was closer the 2nd time around. But, succeeding at a big school like Oshkosh in a premiere conference like the WIAC is an absolute huge difference than dominating the MWC with SNC, at least in my opinion.

Another point of view from Mark Miller....

Have to figure UW-Oshkosh assistant coach Matt Lewis @mattlewis30 is the top contender to replace Pat Juckem as the Titans' head coach. Lewis is a veteran who knows the state well and has recruited very well.

He's come close twice so I'm thinking it might be more of a case of the third time being the charm.

Maybe. When UWO job was open, they didn't go with the longtime assistant who you think would know the area.

WashU (may be comparing apples to oranges here) didn't go with a longtime assistant, either.

I don't think we are late enough in the off season for this to be an interim position (to be searched for in earnest next March)... but worth keeping an eye on how UWO handles this. I am not sure the state will agree they need an "emergency hire" to replace Juckem.
