GT--evidently your "word out of Whitewater" is suspect: Williams, Grintjes, and Kaminski did not play, let alone start, in a 16 point win. You must have taken that post down. How good are they, then, regardless of their size?

If you missed my sarcasm in the post, my apologies. That post is still up and Badgerwarhawk would be the one to ask, but he's probably still in football mode.

Only one game today, Luther at La Crosse. I think the Eagles are going to surprise some folks this year. No surprising needed to top the Norse though.

Not sure what to think yet about Point's win. I'm still at a loss on how Eau Claire, losing their two top players and picked 7th in he WIAC, can beat St. Olaf, a team that returned 6 of their top 7 players.

Whitewater has some work to do after one game? Disappointing they haven't rounded into form after a handful of practices and one game.

Point starts practicing much earlier than other schools, so I suppose a fast start is inevitable.  ;)

Greek Tragedy

WIAC is 8-0 so far.

Bethel vs Eau Claire at ST

Bethel was picked 3rd in the MIAC. Will EC have a hangover from their big opening day win over ranked St. Olaf? Probably.

Piedmont vs Oshkosh at Wheaton IL

I don't know anything about Piedmont. Oshkosh with the win.

River Falls vs Johnson and Wales (CO).

J&W is an unknown. I'll just take the newcomers to D3 on a whim.

Concordia will Platteville

Concordia was picked 3rd right behind Benedictine. Look for a good fight but a Platteville win.

St. John's at Whitewater

The Johnnie's are favored to win the MIAC, so a great early test for the Warhawks. The home side with a narrow victory.

McMurry at Stout

No idea. Stout, I guess.

St Johns: 72
WARHAWKS: 83

After the Johnnies scored the first pair of baskets Melvin Williams scored inside to get the WARHAWKS on the board and baskets by Andre Brown and Malik Clements gave the WARHAWKS a 6-4 lead which would be maintained, reaching a high of twelve, 20-8, midway through the half.  The Johnnies pulled to within a point 27-26 at the four minute mark but the WARHAWKS finished the half with a 9-4 run to lead by six 36-30 at the half.  Dalton Menke led all scorers with 11 points while Derek Rongstad finished with 8.  Freshman Riley Schumacher looked impressive finishing with 5 rebounds, 3 points and a pair of assists in eight minutes.  The WARHAWKS lead grew to twelve points over the first six minutes of the second half but the Johnnies rallied and took a 56-55 lead with a little over eight minutes.  The game became tied 57-57 a minute later before the WARHAWKS took the lead for good on a three point basket from Mitchell Pfeifer stretching the Johnnie deficit to twelve and finished 6-8 from the free throw line to finish up eleven.  For the second game in a row the WARHAWKS finished with five players in double figures.

Andre Brown: 20 points, 9:0 assist/turnover
Melvin Brown: 13 points
Derek Rongstad: 12 points, 4 steals
Mitchell Pfeifer: 11 points
Dalton Menke: 11 points
David Sachs: 7:2 assist/turnover

The highlight of the evening was watching Meneke shake off the "air ball" chants when after drawing air on his first attempt drew noting but net on his next three.  I always get a laugh when the crowd is chanting "air ball" and the shooter drains one.  Three in a row is ROTF funny.

Warhawks host Concordia Wi tonight, Johnnies in Platteville.

Concordia - Wi: 70
WARHAWKS: 89

Rongstad: 25 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals
Menke: 14 points, 6 rebounds
Sachs: 13 points, 12 assists
M.Brown: 12 points

Concordia shoots 60% in the first half and leads for most of it including 41-40 when the half ended.  But the WARHAWKS open the second half with a 13-2 run and eventually build a 13 point lead.  Concordia rallies and pulls to within two points midway through the stanza.  However unlike last year when we most likely would have gone in the tank, the WARHAWKS rally with Menke and Rongstad scoring the next thirteen points and build a lead that swells to twenty two before the final.

#20189
WIAC is 16-6 after an 8-6 weekend. Things aren't going to get any easier tonight with four games on the slate.

Oshkosh (1-1) at Edgewood (0-1)
Oshkosh should roll in this one.

Whitewater (3-0) at Monmouth (2-0)
Transfer Will Carius is averaging 30.5 ppg and 11 rpg. Whitewater's big men have their work cut out for them.

Platteville (1-1) at Simpson (3-1)
Tricky game here with stud Conor Riordan leading Simpson, who just smoked Hope.

La Crosse (2-1) at St. John's (2-1)
After playing Whitewater and Platteville, this should be the easy game for the Johnnies. Or should it?

I hope the WIAC can go 3-1 but I can easily see them going 1-3. Let's hope for the former.
