Yeah, I've heard of it, but I've never been to Ironwood.

I've driven through Watersmeet, MI on my way to Copper Harbor...home of the Nimrods, of course...and I've also stopped by Gay, MI.  No Ironwood though.  ;D

With 6-6-06 just recently passed, I have yet to go to Hell...Michigan.

Despite all the times you've been ordered there?

Do not pass Go? Do not collect $200?

Yeah well, the money just burns a hole in my pocket when I get there anyway (drum please!)

As noted, the Platteville schedule is now posted.

Platteville gets another big time exibition game, this time vs. Purdue.

I understand that there is a connection between Purdue and Paul Combs.  His father was associated with the program (team doctor?) when Paul was a child and he spent a lot of time with his father watching Purdue basketball and meeting those connected with it.   One of the papers ran a story on it recently.

The Oshkosh schedule is now up.  Nonconference games on the road include Edgewood and Elmhurst, along with a "holiday" trip to Siberia, the Clarke College Holiday Tournament.  Home games look intriguing with Lawrence, Carroll, St. Norb's and Grinnell all make the trip to Kolf.  Lawrence and Carroll are top teams (obviously) in the MWC and both were ranked last year for most of the season.  If you get a chance head to Oshkosh on Jan. 4th to see "the System" in Grinnell.  It's entertaining and painful to watch at the same time.  Oshkosh has a VERY STRONG noonconference schedule, IMO.

Eau Claire, Stevens Point, Superior and Whitewater have yet to post schedules.

Sports Academy Directors' Cup final standings -
A cut and paste job from the UWEC site, with attribution and credit going to the UWEC sports information department for passing along the press release information:

"WESTLAKE, OH – The UW-Eau Claire athletic department finished 27th in the final 2005-06 NCAA Division III U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup standings, it was released today by National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

"The Blugolds were ranked third among Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) schools that ranked in the top 100. UW-La Crosse was 14th with 479 points, UW-Stevens Point was 22nd with 431 points, UW-Eau Claire was 27th with 402.875 points, UW-Whitewater was 29th with 387 points, UW-Oshkosh was 33rd with 328 points and UW-Platteville finished tied for 86th with 178.5 points.

"UW-Eau Claire was ranked 25th after the fall sports season, 27th after the winter sports season and 27th after the final standings were releases.

"Williams (MA) College won its 10th U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup in the last 11 years and recorded 920.5 points, 130.25 points ahead of runner-up College of New Jersey.

"Developed as a joint effort between USA TODAY and NACDA, the U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup program is the only all-sports competition that recognizes the institution in each of the four categories (NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA) with the best overall athletics program."

UW-Superior picked up a nice backcourt recruit from the tough Chicago Catholic League, Dwight Hill.

Mr. Downtown

Oldschool,

The tougher the non-conference, the better see's Van Dellen. He wants it that way so just in case if this team doesn't win the conference tourney again, they might still make it to the national tourney.

One name that I am watching : DJ Marsh. If he's half as good as Van Dellen thinks he is...then Oshkosh might not be missing Jahnke.
