How long before Osh Kosh removes the interim label?

Greek Tragedy

I don't completely understand the whole geography thing and what comes first, the pods or geography. But my feeling, with really no basis, is that had Oshkosh hosted (I know the women are hosting 1st wondering), there was no way they were sending St. John's to Oshkosh. Maybe St. John's is further west and Oshkosh had to go there because of limited options. Oshkosh is more Central and probably had more options if they hosted. Just seems like a pretty stacked pod.

You pretty much wrapped it all up there ... geography. There are only so many places you can send St. John's. There are so many places Oshkosh can go that aren't St. John's ... because if you don't send UWO there, who do you replace them with that can get to SJU?

Remember ... for each team you pull out, you have to replace them.

Congrats to Boots and Tauber. I am always impressed with a guy who can compete In sports and still excel in the classroom. And I will miss watching Ben Boots play. He was the best example of an all-around basketball player in the league. It is always a pleasure to watch a guy with multiple skills.

Since it's a state job, they will have to go through the process.

Thanks for all the updates in the playoffs! God Bless all of you guys!

Good luck to all the WIAC teams tonight and hopefully beyond.

I'm not real confident with La Crosse's chances. I hope they win their first round game vs a solid St. Thomas team just so it validates their surprise selection as a Pool C team.

Platteville takes on Capital. I basically know nothing about them, but they come from a tough conference, so they're battle tested. Hopefully the Pioneers can grind one out and then try to grind another one out vs Augustana.

Oshkosh should win their opening round game vs tournament virgins LFC. Tough draw if they make it to tomorrow with St. John's. I believe Oshkosh would've had a more favorable pod had they hosted, but congrats to the Titan women for their chance to host.

Platteville had 7 point lead with 2:40 left in regulation. Over the last 2:40, they missed two free throws and turned it over twice and only got up two shots, one of them with 2 seconds left. Not exactly how you ice a basketball game.

I only watched those last few minutes, but Capital's offense seemed to be exclusively a clear out and drive/kick. I doubt that's what they did all game, but it was all least three possessions in a row. I guess it worked though because they got back even and won it in OT.

Very accurate description! Duax missed the last 8 minutes of first half in Foul trouble! Q Shields was a monster but not enough help! Duax worn out guarding best player on capital! We lost to a good team! Thank you Augustana College! I had a great time! Good food, home fans, great atmosphere!

DC Everest PG, Zion Turner, will play basketball for the La Crosse Eagles.  Good backcourt duo with Kollock and Turner so far for Coach Dernbach.

Congratulations to UWO for a lot of points and a win!  Where do you guys play next?

SJU fan here,
Congratulations Oshkosh on advancing to the Sweet 16. I was impressed with your basketball team and passionate fans all weekend. Certainly think UWO has a great chance to host next weekend, and I would not be surprised at all they win the whole thing in Fort Wayne.

While I am disappointed we did not get the second round matchup, I do not think SJU matched up particularly well with UWO. Then again, I can't think of many teams that could guard all of your guys. The ball movement is crisp from Boots and Wittchow, plus Flynn kicks out of the double team well. You have three guys who can knock down the 3 easily. Duax is so strong and crashes the glass, plus a really good defender. But for me the secret weapon looks to be Fravert. I mean who in DIII can defend his length and athleticism? Realistically he could play the 3, 4, or 5 and exceed at all of those spots. Even if you play tight defense he can still rise up and not have a hand in his face. He was on fire from the outside this weekend, and showed some post moves too. The bench guys brought energy too, but especially last night those starters dominated. I think it's going to be tough to stop such a diverse offense with so many weapons, but good luck going forward!

Oh, I'm certainly not disputing his assertion that St. Thomas should've been listed as a good opponent for UWRF and UWSP. I'm simply saying that the Tommies are not really a perennial power anymore. The dictionary definition of perennial is "lasting for an indefinitely long time; enduring," and 2017-18 proved that the St. Thomas run as a power program neither lasted nor endured.

Take it from somebody who's learned this the hard way -- college basketball is a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately affair. Two national championships in the last eight years is a great thing to brag about as a fan, and an even better commodity to put in your back pocket when you're a coach on the recruiting trail, but if that's not translating into landing the personnel that'll keep you contending for more of those hunks of walnut and bronze, then it doesn't carry over. Your current status is what your record is, or was last season, not what it was in the past.

They had a lot of injuries last year and a pretty good recruiting class coming in - not sure I'd write them off just yet as a power.

I thought I remembered some talk about UST back in the fall...somebody had it right back in October!
