Oh, I'm certainly not disputing his assertion that St. Thomas should've been listed as a good opponent for UWRF and UWSP. I'm simply saying that the Tommies are not really a perennial power anymore. The dictionary definition of perennial is "lasting for an indefinitely long time; enduring," and 2017-18 proved that the St. Thomas run as a power program neither lasted nor endured.

Take it from somebody who's learned this the hard way -- college basketball is a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately affair. Two national championships in the last eight years is a great thing to brag about as a fan, and an even better commodity to put in your back pocket when you're a coach on the recruiting trail, but if that's not translating into landing the personnel that'll keep you contending for more of those hunks of walnut and bronze, then it doesn't carry over. Your current status is what your record is, or was last season, not what it was in the past.

They had a lot of injuries last year and a pretty good recruiting class coming in - not sure I'd write them off just yet as a power.

I thought I remembered some talk about UST back in the fall...somebody had it right back in October!

Again, perennial means "lasting for an indefinitely long time; enduring". As I said back in October, St. Thomas went 14-12, 12-8 last season. That means that, by definition, the Tommies weren't a perennial power anymore. That hasn't changed, because this season's Sweet Sixteen run doesn't erase what happened last season.

I did say that I thought that the Tommies would be a tier down from St. John's and Bethel this season. I was obviously wrong about that, but so were you. So were a whole lotta people. Kudos to the Tommies for proving all of us wrong.

Bo Ryan won back to back championships in the late 90's. The year he left we went 19-6 in regular season and got no bid! This make your point Mr. Sager than respect needs to be earned every year!

Opponents of UWO in sectional: Do not be discouraged! UWO will be lucky to bring in 8 or 900 fans to the game! You have lots of room! I think they have 3000 seats! Come and pack the opponents arena! They also do not make that much noise! it is a quiet sleepy arena due to darkness and poor noise volumne. I want UWO to win,and may even attend. I am just giving you my honest opinion! Nice town to visit with good fly in options

Well considering UWO can't have all their fans in all the seats ... and that tickets are distributed in a certain number per team ... I don't think anyone is worried about seats. :)

For those curious - half the seats are saved for the home team. The other half are split amongst the three other teams. If a team doesn't sell out it's allotment, they return them (Wednesday maybe?) to the host to distribute as general sale, I believe.

Oshkosh averaged 526 fans for home conference games.  Stevens Point crushes everyone with over 1100 per home game with the WARHAWKS following in second but over 500 per game short.  Platteville is third followed by Oshkosh in fourth.

With the size of their facility I don't think anyone has anything to worry about.

I thought it was closer to 5,000. I may just show up and buy a ticket Friday. No worries about a sellout. Hopefully the crowds will be bigger and louder than normal.

If the Tommies and Johnnies played again tomorrow I'd take the Johnnies.  They obviously belong in the same tier this year based on results, but this Tommie team doesn't have the size, athleticism and talent the Johnnies have or previous Tommie teams have had.

To GT: I agree! huge campus and large town, small community and student support! The titans both teams deserve a lot. more attendance then they draw

I remember going to the Kolf Sports Center shortly after it was built.  At the time I thought it was impressive.  No one in the league had anything that even came close to it.  Now I think the main court has to be one of the most difficult for opponents to shoot in.  The baskets seem to hang in space making depth perception difficult if you don't practice on it regularly.
