Oldschool,
The tougher the non-conference, the better see's Van Dellen. He wants it that way so just in case if this team doesn't win the conference tourney again, they might still make it to the national tourney.

I really like their schedule.  I'm waiting with eager anticipation when Point's schedule comes out.  I'm hoping to make a couple of Oshkosh games if Point isn't playing at the same time!

Of course, playing a tough nonconference schedule helps the SOSI, it also gives you a "better" chance of losing those games.  ::)

A story in the June 17 Capital Times has the rosters for the WBCA All Stars - both men and women, all four divisions, north and south.  A total of 80 boys and 80 girls and theur colleges.  It lists their high schools and what college they will be attending.  It is a pretty complete summary of the recruits for all the WIAC schools.  It is at:

One name that I am watching : DJ Marsh. If he's half as good as Van Dellen thinks he is...then Oshkosh might not be missing Jahnke.

We need a lot of wins to make up for the 2005/2006 debacle.

In D1 he would have been fired end of season.

I hope they turn the ship.

Interesting to see that Kurt Bauer (assumed relation to Brian Bauer, both from Auburndale) is headed to Eau Claire, and not Point.  Of course, not trying to say every brother/cousin or whatever has to follow the big brother's footsteps!  ;)

Funny how often it happens that way, though.

Here's one for the rumour mill.  I was told that UW-SP assistant coach, Aaron Bonnett, will be leaving to join the staff at UW-L.  If so it's a great pickup for Ken at LC because Aaron really works hard and puts in a lot of time.  Not sure what is in the works for the Point staff if Aaron leaves.  Perhaps an advancement in Nick Bennett's status?

Rich Melzer will be playing for Orlando in one of the NBA's summer leagues.  You can see the rosters and some information at:

Do any of you guys remember Rick Montreal who had a nice career at UW-River Falls?  Did any of you see him play?  Anyway, he's the new varsity head basketball coach at New Richmond high school.

When I started following WIAC ball, Montreal was on RF.  If I remember correctly, he teamed up with someone named Cook to form one of the best combos in the league.  I think they were both good 3-point shooters.  Anyway, thats all what I know about him.

I remember seeing him play as well.  He was a three time All-WIAC selection (twice HM) and in 1991 he was an NAIA All American.   Good luck to him in New Richmond.

Anyone heard of any drama coming from Stout?  Rumor has it that Stangl and Chandler quit along with others.  The only ones left are the Nonemachers.  Sounds like RF and Stout are losing key players.

Earlier this year the rumor was that Nonemachers were leaving.  Now they're the only ones staying.  ROFL

Re: Stout

Sounds like wishful thinking...        I visited with Eddie last weekend and the topic never came up, so I gotta believe it ain't so.

Hey BW, didn't we just go through this type of thing with a first time poster over on the football side?

BDB will investigate and report back.
