Platteville wins the game (70-68) at the free throw line they go 22 out of 26 where WW goes 5 out 9. With three games left P-ville, Osh and EC hold the top three places in the WIAC. Platteville hosts RF this Saturday the goes on the road to EC and Point they have a game lead over Oshkosh but they swept them this season. Oshkosh  hosts Stout and WW then finish at RF. EC goes to WW and LaX and hosts Platteville in between. Given this week's  NCAA Regional Rankings the WIAC needs someone other than Platteville to win the WIAC tournament in order to get more than one team in.

Apparently...the UWSP vs Oshkosh game will be uploaded on YouTube sometime now that the game is over.

This Point team isn't sniffing the Conference Championship game, let alone winning it.  It's another early end to the season with no end of those in sight.  Yes, they had the investigation to deal with, but they have had 3 brutal recruiting classes in a row now and have 0 commits this year when they need a huge influx of talent.  The WIAC isn't a conference where you can expect to have much success relying on underclassmen.  It will be a couple years before UWSP can compete for an NCAA tournament berth, and that's if the coaches can start figuring out how to win some recruiting battles.

They not only had to deal with the investigation, but remember there were restrictions put in place specifically on recruiting ... like no official visits and other limitations. That and I am sure the entire thing tarnished things overall. I am sure many other coaches are using it all against them on the recruiting trails.

I do remember the no official visits for 4 years(if I remember right)...What does an official visit entail for a D3 athlete??  Can schools still pay for the travel and meals for an official visit??  I'm just curious how much this is a detriment to UWSP's recruiting efforts.

Greek Tragedy

I'm not certain, but what constitutes an official visit is how many parties they attend. I think it's two, but I could be wrong.

Have any of you listened to/watched UWEC home games? If so, do you notice the extreme bias of the radio announcer, not a kid from UWEC, but a radio announcer who was off the charts biased for EC about a call that did not get made against RF? At that point, I cut the audio and watched the rest of the game, which was most of the second half. The officiating was good:  Pat Bausholt, Casey Eckert (sp) , and a guy I did not know.

There are expenses that can be paid for an official visit.  I'm not sure if/what the limits are.

Greek Tragedy

#21021
Platteville (9-2) hosts River Falls (5-6). Should be an easy game if you forgot River Falls upset them earlier this season. I don't see it happening again.

Stout (1-10) travels to Oshkosh (8-3). The Titans won by double digits in Menomonie and I see the same thing happening at Kolf today.

Eau Claire (7-4) travels to Whitewater (2-9). The Blugolds had to rally from a halftime deficit to win at home, so a trip to Karges will be a battle. There's too much on the line for Eau Claire to not pull out another close one.

Stevens Point (6-5) hosts La Crosse (6-5). Two disappointing teams face off with both on Pool C life support. Look for the Eagles to pull the plug on Point for a season sweep.

Basically there can be nothing paid for if it is not an official visit. So getting rid of official visits means the student-athlete is on their own in terms of expenses across the board. There also may be a restriction on whether they can spend the night and such, but I'd have to go back to my notes (buried in a box after this off-season's massive water problems at home) or look it all up again.

If Bublitz doesn't have one of his worst games as a Pointer, UWSP probably has a comfortable win over ranked La Crosse.  But, as has been par for the course, Point can't pull it out.  This program is turning into hot garbage.

Greek Tragedy

La Crosse wins and puts Point and the rest of us out of our misery 53-52. That game was painful to watch online. Point has two possessions to win it and they can't even hit the rim. A lazy turnover with under a minute to go gives the ball back to La Crosse. They miss and Point gets about 15 seconds to win it. A complete brick. This team is just bad.

Missing 10 free throws, several of those the front ends of 1 and 1s don't help either.

Ehrke is terrible from the line, absolutely brutal.  Like you said, this team is just bad.

'95 Blugold

Turnovers and a bunch of missed easy layups have the Blugolds down 23-29 to Whitewater at halftime.

'95 Blugold

In what seemed to be an uphill battle all game the Blugolds pull one off on the road 49-47. Finally took the lead with about 2:30 left in the game after a technical on the Whitewater coach, they could not put the game away until the final seconds. Still a win on the road, and I'll take it.

Greek Tragedy

Honestly, with Point out of the Pool C bid, it's good to hear that Eau Claire has improved their chances, and thus improves the WIAC's chances of getting more than one NCAA bid.
