Another great shooting performance from the Pointers...31 percent...while Eau Claire is shooting 61 percent...the bleeding will stop soon and then the coaching staff can concentrate on getting more talent into the program.

Greek Tragedy

It's only 36-20 at halftime. LOL Nichols beat Roger Williams tonight by 2 while being down 17 with 11 minutes to go. Point did it against Stout and Wilmington. You never know...ok, maybe we already do.

Eau Claire can thank the refs for an added boost...absolutely brutal calls down the stretch...and.not to mention stopping 3 separate Point fast breaks in the first half on calls well after the turnovers.

I don't know how this crew continues to get games at the college level, they have been around a long time and I've literally never walked away impressed with how they called a game.

Greek Tragedy

Well, the Pointers teased with my emotions, cutting the Blugolds' lead down to 3 a couple of times. In the end, the hosts prevail 65-59. Us Pointer fans can now eagerly anticipate Mr. Zastrow and hopefully a big, successful recuiting class.

LaX beats RF and EC beats SP so EC plays Platteville and LaX plays Oshkosh on Thursday.  Oshkosh  beat LaX twice this year and Platteville beat EC twice the old saying it's hard to beat a team 3 times in one season will be put to the test Thursday. If Platteville wins the tournament I think  either Oshkosh  or LaX could be a Pool C team unless their are some upsets in other conference tournaments. I know I've been saying the WIAC would get only one team  in but the latest NCAA regional rankings seem the show they value the quality of the WIAC.

So once again, next year, Point will basically be starting from scratch. They lose four senior starters with only Garrett Nelson (starter averaging almost 29 min per game) and Zach Mootz (21 min. per game) returning with any experience. Everyone else averaged less than 8 minutes a game. Sound familiar? That was basically the case coming into this year. You can't really grow as a team if you get to play with each other for one year and then everyone graduates. I really think if this same team came back next year, they'd be really good. But, the inconsistencies of this team really stood out, probably because they didn't play with each other up until this year. Hopefully Semling and Co. can get a nice group of guys in next year, mix them with who we have returning and build for a year or two. Another year without NCAA tourney basketball, tough to swallow for a program like Point. I wish the rest of the WIAC will do well and represent the conference in the NCAAs. Maybe I'll see two WIAC teams in Fort Wayne this year.

Ah, you mean the old saying that makes absolutely no sense.

That adage is sure to last as long as the game because:

1) It offers hope for the families, friends and fans of the team that is 0-2.
2) This is a longshot, but it is a way to get in the heads of the team that is 2-0.

... and:

3) It makes people feel wise and in-the-know whenever they quote it, even though they tend to quote it unthinkingly. ;)

LOL!

I must be wearing people down. This is the first time I've seen it in 2019-20.

I did immediately think of Mr. Sager when that was posted.

The last 2 years, Point has lost Senior rotation players Drew Fredrickson, Mark Nelson, Canon O'Heron, Brett Tauber, Koko Songolo, Nate Dodge, Brandon Spray, Blake Ehrke, Matt Koerner, Ethan Bublitz and Aaron Knez.  That's a lot of All WIAC recognition there.

They replaced all those players with Zach Mootz, Peter Timmermann, Mayson Hazaert, Kaden Clark, Beau Rosenthal, Jevan Sachjten and Isaac Woelfer.  Multiple guys on this list shouldn't be playing in the WIAC.  No matter what they do in this recruiting class, unless it included multiple transfers that are All Conference level, they will struggle mightily for 2 years.  Just like Greek Tragedy has mentioned, I hope this is a big recruiting class filled with top recruits at all positions.  With Zastrow, its a solid start.

With that said, I really hope Semling goes against his norm and if they get a few top notch freshman recruits, he needs to give these guys minutes early on.  I don't see the point of giving minutes to upperclassmen that aren't going to be around when this recruiting class could possibly get this program back to relevance.  Hazaert, maybe Sachjten, Zastrow and the rest of this hopeful top recruiting class is the future, get them some experience.  I think these guys will already be better than guys like Wagner, Woelffer and Rosenthal anyways.
