UM-Duluth and former Appleton Xavier G, Hunter Plamann, is transferring.  Coach Hockett at UWSP was his main recruiter for Duluth back when he was there.  He certainly would fit nicely with UWSP if he ends up there.  Plamann started every game for Duluth as a freshman and was a main rotation player as a sophomore.

So, he just announced he was transferring, but not where?

WIACers looking for a little March Madness can have some fun with this Milwaukee Journal Sentinel all- Wisconsin bracket of 64 - featuring prominent D1 teams in state history garnering the #1 seeds, and several NCAA D3 championship teams filling out the lower seeds... Give it a look see....

(I just might have to get off my fat behind and check out a few of the matchups in the regional on my side of the state at the La Crosse Center!  ;) )

He hasn't made a decision on where yet, I'd have to assume UWSP will be involved with Plamann with the prior relationship with Coach Hockett.

WIAC is represented on the D3hoops.com All America team,
Adam Fravert and Jack Flynn of Oshkosh on the 2nd team
Carter Voelker of Platteville on the 3rd team.
Player of the Year goes to Nate West of Le Tourneau (Texas) he was a scoring machine when Platteville played them in the Cru Classic last December but he had no supporting cast in a game that Platteville won.

5'11" Seymour G, Riley Murphy, has committed to UWEC.  Very good get for the Blugolds, Murphy is a great shooter with in the gym range.
Watched Seymour play on three different occasions this year...  Each of the three times I saw them in person, the best player on the floor for Seymour wasn't Murphy.  I do agree that Murphy can definitely shoot it, I'm just not sure he will get as many good looks as he did at the high school level.

Dorn was easily the best player for Seymour this year and probably a big WIAC target next season.  Murphy was underwhelming when I watched him as well but can definitely develop into a solid college player.
One would think that if Dorn makes similar strides from his junior to senior year as he did from his sophomore to junior year, the D2's would come knocking if he is interested in leaving the State.  I actually wouldn't be surprised if some are already in contact with him.

Agreed, Dorn could easily find his way to the D2 level in 2 years.  But, something that can't help his ability of obtaining offers is that his last AAU season is up in the air at this point.  Most coaches aren't offering kids unless there is in person evaluation happening.  Hopefully everything gets back to normal soon enough so that there can be an open recruiting period, even if Dorn does acquire some D2 offers it won't stop the WIAC schools from atleast checking interest.

Well, that's obviously no longer standard operating procedure for D2 coaches, right? If nobody's playing AAU ball this summer because of the Coronavirus, then D2 coaches are going to have to change the way that they operate in terms of deciding to whom they'll proffer letters of intent.

Yeah, that's quite obvious....but the only D2 school in Wisconsin is Parkside.  Parkside is probably familiar with most prospects in Wisconsin.  The other D2 schools that recruit Wisconsin I'm sure see those kids on the AAU circuit.  A kid from the other side of Wisconsin that really improved his junior year and probably wasn't on D2 radars isn't known to the Minnesota D2's that hit Wisconsin.  If Dorn isn't on the radar of those schools before the season, they wouldn't be tracking him.  The AAU season would be where he would get on their radar.  If there is no AAU, it really hurts a kid like Dorn who blew up this season.

It hurts a kid like Dorn who blew up this season in terms of landing a D2 scholie, perhaps ... but it could work out to the advantage of WIAC schools, who presumably had a better chance of getting a look at him during the 2019-20 high school season, and/or have scouting "ins" with high school coaches and are less dependent upon AAU contacts.

There will be a lot of creative changes to recruiting at all levels once we get some stability in place.   Spring AAU is going to be a no go, if we somehow get back to a place we feel comfortable an extended summer AAU could probably be cobbled together.

I'm fairly certain Dorn isn't an AAU kid...  He's spends the spring/summer on the diamond playing both High School and Legion baseball.  So with that said, the Covid-19 Pandemic is going to have zero impact on Dorn as far as AAU basketball goes.

United South Central HS(MN) 6'3" G, AJ Kloos, committed to play basketball at UWRF.

Cuba City G, Jackson Noll, will play collegiate basketball for UW-Stout.  I think this is a nice get for Stout.
