Pretty sure 2019 recruit Logan Mulhern has also decided to join the Pointers after sitting out a year.  Plenty of shooters headed to the Quandt.  If they can get some inside play they might be building something again.

I hadn't heard that news but certainly hope it's true as Mulhern was a very highly thought of recruit back when he committed last year.

An article about the D1 transfer
Can't help but chuckle at the "chose to walk on at Seton Hall" line in the article...  Pretty sure that while he had an offer from Marquette, it was a verbal offer from then coach Buzz Williams.  When Buzz left for Virginia Tech I'm pretty sure the Marquette offer left with it.

It's official...UWSP basketball tweeted out that Mulhern has moved into his dorm at UWSP.

As of now....UWSP has 13 incoming players that have made commitments.  I thought they needed quite an influx on players to practice the way they would want to practice, but 13 definitely exceeded the number I had in my head by a long shot.  It makes me question whether or not all players with eligibility left are coming back.  With everyone back, the roster would sit at 22.  I don't remember it ever being that high.

Ryan Genrich 6'1" Mukwonago
Trey Zastrow 6'0" Manitowoc Lutheran
Elijah Vander Velden 6'8" Wabash(IN)
Ryan Peterson 6'1" Northland Pines
Ethan Breheim 6'5" Alma Center Lincoln
Levi Ewan 6'0" Rib Lake
Anthony Espensen 6'4" Belvidere North(IL)
Cooper Weinfurter 6'0" Auburndale
Jaxon Flaherty 6'1" Unity
Cliff McCray 6'1" Madison West - Transfer from UW Stout
Jacob Newhouse 6'6" Kaukauna
Phillip Flory 6'4" Oshkosh North - Transfer from D1 Seton Hall/Albany
Vaughn Breit 6'5" Stratford

Haven't had numbers like these in the post-Redshirt/post-Bennet era, to be sure.

In 2004-05, we had 22 on the roster.

This was the first post-Redshirt year that was Coach Bennett's last year at UWSP. Coach Semling hasn't kept more than the NCAA roster-limit of 15 (to my recollection).

2010-11 seems to be the exception (18 on the roster).
19 in 2016-17

One of the difficulties in D-3 especially, is roster attrition, as we all know. So, if the roster is at 15 (or less) and a couple of guys decide not to come out, then then you end up with classes with 2-3 players when they get to upperclassmen. And this league (and the NCAA tournament) are won by upper classmen.

Maybe they're going to run a jv squad? Maybe covid restrictions limit practice to half the squad and Semling still wants to be able to run 5on5s? Maybe they're planning for more missed games due to positive tests? Lots of reasons for a big roster.

I know one "roster" on the east coast that is 35. The chances it is 35 even in a normal year by the time the end of October rolls around is slim and none. :)

Honestly I'll be surprised if there is a basketball season.

I am still optimistic we will have a partial season and a championship. Fingers crossed.

I'm with BW: can't see how WIAC will okay b.b. and not football except for numbers of players involved. That seems like a very thin reed to lean on.

GOT BALLS? PLAY FOR THE FALLS!

Greek Tragedy

I haven't checked the site in awhile before yesterday. I have no excitement for the upcoming season. I'm not thrilled for a partial season. I have very little interest in a 60-game MLB season. I thought it was pointless for the NBA to play 9 games and then start a full playoff season. I don't know, it's just really disappointing. I understand all this caution, but I don't entirely agree with it.

No need to start a huge debate about it here and just the wrong place as well. I feel bad for all the athletes this fall and most likely the winter sports as well. I agree with BW as well.

This has more to do with the virus than the sport. If things with the virus fight are more under control and such and basketball season can happen, so be it. Football season has been lost because things weren't under control. Just as spring sports and winter championships were lost because the virus was so unknown at the time.

During move-in week, UWSP basketball tweeted out whenever one of the recruits moved in.  They announced 12 recruits, players that made previous commitments not included in the move-in tweets were Ethan Breheim and Cooper Weinfurter.

Now that D 1 has a plan for Basketball will D 2 and D 3 be far behind?
