Big loss for Stout...Lovell Williams is leaving Stout to enter the transfer portal, I'd assumed he would be the go-to guy starting next year.

I thought he was this year. Tinsley had a few less shots in more games.

True...but it varied for certain games from my vantage point...unquestioned go to guy next season, or would have been.

Platteville beats LaCrosse 74-51 in one conference semi final tonight. LaCrosse had no answer for Platteville's inside game as Tuma led the Pioneers with 18 pts followed by Stovall with 14. Stovall was a force on both ends of the court and LaCrosse couldn't take advantage in the first half when he sat more than 10 minutes with 2 fouls. Platteville led 30-23 at half and held that advantage throughout the 2nd half until the final 7 or 8 minutes when they started to pull away. In the final 3 minutes Ben Probst made 4 3 pointers to stretch the lead. It was good to see Logan Pearson back on the court after being out with an injury he finished with 14 points. On to Oshkosh for the WIAC Tournament championship game.

Greek Tragedy

I imagine La Crosse is in despite their loss. Considering there are 6 WIAC teams regionally ranked, that should help the Eagles' cause. They also have wins vs Buena Vista and Virginia Wesleyan, both also regionally ranked.

Oshkosh had some nice balanced scoring en route to its 86-77 over Whitewater. Plamann with a career high 26, Borchert 22, Muench 18, and Rindfleisch 10. I'm sure some of the improved free throw shooting is welcomed by the Titans. 23-32 at the line is a big improvement from dreadful numbers some in previous games. Oshkosh seemed to do better guarding the paint this game against Whitewater, yes they gave up some, but also seemed deny entry better and held Gray and Malensek to a combined 33% shooting.

Greek, by every metric and everyone projecting everywhere UW-La Crosse is a lock for NCAA Tournament. They have a decent shot at hosting. It is a fair question though, because they do not hold a win against a team with a Pool C resume. Virginia Wesleyan, Augsburg, Buena Vista, and Ripon are still alive for Pool A's but none of these teams realistically are in without that Pool A. Their resume is built on these wins, wins over the middle of the conference, and lots of wins in general.

Platteville travels to Oshkosh for the tournament championship 5pm CT Saturday.

Greek Tragedy

They went 0-5 against Oshkosh and Platteville. 4 of the 5 losses to those teams were by 6, 3, 4, 3. I don't know if they look at the actual scores or not. On the other hand, they went 5-1 against the other ranked WIAC teams, Stout, Whitewater and River Falls. I do believe they look at the vRRO in terms of where those teams are ranked as well.

UWO wins another tight one against Platteville to secure the WIAC Tournament Championship to go along with their WIAC regular season title.

I would LOVE to see Oshkosh and Platteville in two different sections of the bracket when it's released on Monday, but I doubt it will happen...

Great game at Kolf last night. Game of runs for sure. Oshkosh made enough free throws at the end and Shields' shot at the horn was off the mark. Good game to learn from for both teams with some extra foul calls that always seem to come in the NCAAs. Shields and Tuma turned it on in the second half especially and Oshkosh was pretty balanced throughout. Both teams are ready to make deep NCAA runs. Shields' is now the Pioneers all time leading scorer.

Bracketology doesn't seem to favor the two teams in different quadrants, but the committee is always pretty creative, hopefully there is a path somewhere for that.

I agree great WIAC Championship game last night. Good crowd Platteville brought a fan bus as well as their pep band. Oshkosh fans  were loud and supportive. After a slow start Oshkosh controlled the game they had an answer for every time Platteville got close. When Borchert fouled out with about 2:30 left in the game it gave Platteville a chance to close the gap but at times they were their own worst enemy by throwing the ball away and missing some free throws. Platteville only got 5 bench points last night which is usually more supportive. I'm not and expert in Bracketology but if LaCrosse gets in I can see them putting 2 WIAC teams (Platteville and LaCrosse) on one side and Oshkosh on the other.

Greek Tragedy

Over the years, I believe they've made better efforts to split top tier teams. But, it's the Midwest area of the country. There are so many good teams. This year we'll have 3 WIAC teams, 3 CCIW and Wash U.  At least we aren't in the far west or south where you can be matched up with a conference foe on the 2nd night, though they've tried to remedy that as well.

If the "projected" bracket that the d3hoops staff put together is close to what the actual bracket ends up being, I'd have to think many WIAC fans would be pleased....  UWO, Platteville, and La Crosse all hosting the first weekend, with UWO in one Sectional on the left side of the bracket and Platteville and La Crosse in another Sectional on the right side of the bracket.

Let's hope and pray It happens where at least the titans could play Platteville or LaCrosse in the final 4. I believe those 3 teams truly are top 12 overall in the country with the titans being top 4. Pioneers are the 7th or 8th and eagles I'd put anywhere between 8-12.

Oshkosh is the #1 overall seed and opens up with 11-17 Blackburn, who actually started the season at 1-10.  They then get the winner of Dubuque vs Case Western Reserve.  The other half of the UWO "group of 8" sees the Texas/Western Schools, minus Pomona-Pitzer; Mary Hardin Baylor (25-2,) Chapman, Whitworth, and Trinity (TX.)

Platteville ends up in the same Sectional as UWO, as they open against Marian and get the winner of St. John's and Calvin.
