I certainly wish them luck in winning the conference for Luke Homan.

I expect my team to try to win the conference EVERY year.

As much as Luke Homan's death has effected the La Crosse program and community, I'm sure the thought of winning the conference probably entered the La Crosse players' minds prior to the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the Homan situation.

I haven't been in Point's weight room ever, let alone ANY weight room recently, so I couldn't give you any insights on Point's preparations for the upcoming season.  ;)

I know that Brad Kalsow is playing football...maybe he'll play basketball this year too!  ???

Rich Melzer was waived by the Spurs yesterday.

I watched the game against the Bulls and Rich looked good.  He had 7 ponts and 3 blocks.  There were times when he was the best player on the floor.  I would not be suprised if he catches on with another team.

Fred if you have any insight it would be appreciated

Did he get a shaving cream commercial yet?

Please remeber this is pre-season and the top 8 players did not play much.  These are the players that played w/ Rich
Jacque Vaugh
Francisco Elson
Charles Lee
Olu Famutimi
Matt Bonner
Jared Reiner
Jackie Butler
Jamar Smith
He was definately the most talented player in the bunch

UWEC's Roster

Includes 5 new transfers, added height and 21 players total

One player missing is Vetterkind, who was the best Freshman on the team last year.  Anyone know why?

If EC's new big men can play solid, EC could move up to the middle of the pack in the conference.

Mr. Downtown

What exactly is Matt Miller's game?

This is what I saw last year with him being a freshman:

1) A terrific shooter. This kid can really light up the scoreboard.

2) A nice change of pace point guard that teams have to remember that he can shoot, unlike Doedens.

This is what he needs to work on:

1) Defense
2) Ball handling. This one is huge...I can't remember how many times this kid would lose the ball at half court. It just seems that he doesn't have the skills to get around anyone, unlike Doedens.

The best part about Miller, this is his second season, so he should improve. But you cannot assume he gets to start. He made too many mistakes last year, and TVD is all about good defense and ball control.

We'll see at the beginning of the season.

looks like EC got some nice transfers.  The only one I have seen in Hoelzel in the middle and he will be a big improvement inside for EC (I don't know how you can't improve on Birkel but......) this was definitely a good pickup and should help EC alot

I'm looking forward to the beginning of the season.

I also have heard that a former player is back at UWO to finish his eligibility.  I have an idea who it is, but without being sure I am not going list him.  Once I find out for sure I will post it.
The player returning to UWO this season is reportedly Ryan Johnsen.  He transferred to Edgewood and started all 26 games their last year, averaging about 13 points/game.  He will have two years of eligibility remaining.  How much he will contribute this season is anyone's guess.  If he can shoot the rock a bit, he may see the floor seeing as how the Titans have a need for a shooter right now.

first_timer--It is ironic that he did so well vs. the Bulls and was cut after the game. I was on the Spurs version of "Posting Up" a few times and several comments about his strong summer camp produced some posters who thought he had the best chance of any rookies to make the team.

Recently, he sent me an email in which he said he thought he would make it and that it was his spot "to lose." He said he had been placed on the five player group with Tim Duncan during practices and that TD was putting in good words for him with Popovich. Evidently they weren't good enough.

How can an Edgewood transfer be eligible this year--doesn't he have to wait a year going from D3 to D3 or is there some exception he can use?
