That's too bad. Gotta move on though. Wish him the best.
Unfortunately, I can't do the same...

Well, I have no idea what the circumstances are and I'm not going to just hate on someone because they are no longer a Pointer. You obviously know more than me, but you're not disclosing that information.
I just don't think it's my place to share the specific details of something that doesn't concern me.... With that said, I'll say this... His removal from the roster wasn't necessarily a "choice" made by anyone... When you have been kicked out of school, the decision has been made for everyone involved. (And no, he wasn't kicked out for grade issues...)

I do understand that it's not always "someone's place" to discuss what has or hasn't happened. I get it. Admittedly, it does get frustrating when there's cryptic posts basically telling us they know what happened but don't want to disclose it. I wasn't trying to criticize you for not telling us, it was just a statement.

La Crosse goes to 0-2 as well. No Noone or Westra today. Noone only played 10 minutes last night, so imagine that's an injury. Not sure about Westra. 25 minutes and 3 fouls Friday. They shot 3-22 from behind the arc today.

Do the Pointers already have a roster that could surprise and finish top 4 in the WIAC? I believe Whitewater is hands down the team to beat not only in the conference but the entire nation however on any given night a team can be taken down. I'm sure it's going to take time to figure out what groups play best together but if they shoot against top level competition like they did tonight I feel they could finish as high as 2nd in Dernbachs first year. Butler reminds me of Matt Moses who was a legend at Point hard nose defense and great with the basketball in his hands creating for others but knowing when team needs his scoring also. So Impressed with Krohn and the fact he left a volleyball scholarship to play basketball for the Pointers shows he's committed very athletic and is smoothe the shots will fall just needs to bulk up a little and get ball a little lower. Miron can really shoot plus put ball on the floor and scored showing versatility. Wahid though was far and away most impressive player tonight and I feel it wasn't a fluke. I'm already so excited again to see the Pointers play and haven't felt this way in years I think the bleachers will be full again soon. It obviously would've been great to have ValCaster but if he did something bad enough to be kicked out of school he's not the type of guy I could root for. I will say I watched some video of him from his senior year and He reminded me of Cooper Flagg and Kyle Flisokowski for Duke just so athletic and versatile he's definitely a loss no denying that even though I think the Pointers could be legitimately 12 deep all day and there's a few kids after that I'd be perfectly fine seeing On the court

Saint Mary's: 53
WARHAWKS: 71

Trailing for the only time early in the first half the WARHAWKS quickly regained the lead and expanded it to a high of fifteen, 25-10, midway through the half.  St Mary's would pull to within seven 31-24 before the half ended with the WARHAWKS up nine 33-24. That's as close as Saint Mary's would get the rest of the way.  The WARHAWKS lead reached a high of 24 points, 67-43, before subs took the floor and finished the game.

Jamar Barker led all scorers with 19 points including 5-5 on three pointers. James Kelly added 16 points and pulled down 7 rebounds.  Led by Carter Capstran's 10 the WARHAWKS dominated the boards out rebounding Saint Mary's 30-19 including 17 on the offensive board which led to 19 second chance points.

6'3" Marquette University High School G, Cade Kohnen, committed to La Crosse and continued the Eagles hot streak on the trail.  They add up to 4 commits already.

Wasn't this ValCaster coached in high school at Freedom by Point alum John Miron? Anybody know him, I'm pretty sure he's in tune with what the Pointers are up to.  I thought VanCalster went to Northern Michigan but my memory is fading.

Can't hit a shot or grab a rebound, games like tonight against St Olaf are what happens.

Hey Greek Tragedy...
Are you contemplating another D3 Challenge this season so I can live vicariously through all your road trips across the state?

No. I'm trying to save all my pennies for next season. I would like to try to do the Great Lakes Invite in Ohio, the D3hoops.com in Vegas and the Final Four in Fort Wayne. Not sure how the wife will feel about that, but that's only 3 trips, not 23. I was really excited when the Final Four moved to Fort Wayne, but for one reason or the other, I haven't made it there yet despite initially planning on going every year it was there because it's only about 5 hours away.

Point loses 64-61. The inbounds pass to get a potential tying shot off is intercepted. I guess I can't expect them to win every game with a new coach and young team. On to Saturday. I hope I can see a win in person while I'm eating some southern food.

Definitely not the outcome a Pointer fan wanted, but I suppose there a few positive things to take out of the game. Being a natural pessimist, I usually concentrate on the bad and overlook the good, kind of like when I see a C+ on my kid's report card, but basically disregard the multiple B's and A's he also receives. Anyway, despite being down by as many as 18 at 43-27, the dawgs did cut it to 2 at 58-56, but couldn't get over the hump.

Point shot 25% in the 1st half (8-32) and just 1-9 from behind the arc. However, they "only" trailed by 9, 32-23 at the break.  They did improve to 41% in the 2nd half, but St. Olaf also improved from 41% to almost 46%. Overall, Point shot just 20-61 for just under 32%. They did do a better job of getting to the line, hitting 18-19 FTs, but still only shot 3-17 from 3 for the game. I guess taking those stats, it's amazing they only lost by 3.

Butler and Miron were the only two Pointers to reach double figures, going for 20 and 12, respectively. On the other hand, the other 3 starters, Krohn, Buchanan and Genrich combined for just 1-17 from the field, including 0-6 from distance. Krohn went 0-6 from the field, but still managed 6-6 from the line and lead the team in rebounds with 9. After his huge opening night where we went for 21 pts and 10 rebs vs Lawrence, Abdul-Wahid was held in check, chipping in with 8 pts and 2 rebs on 3-6 shooting.

It is nice to see Point have some kind of inside game, scoring 30 points in the paint and getting to the line. At least it's not just jump shots all game. Point did have 12 steals, but also coughed it up 12 times. I'm guessing you want to keep the TOs under 10. We're not winning the WIAC this year, so I have to remind myself to temper my expectations. I mean, we are starting 3 freshmen and we have a new coach to get things in order. Baby steps.

Carroll: 77
WARHAWKS: 86

The WARHAWKS started fast building a 24-8 lead after nine minutes had elapsed.  But Carroll got their act together and though the WARHAWKS maintained a double digit lead the Pioneers took advantage of some sloppy WARHAWKS play over the last minute to close to within six, 39-33 when the half ended.  The second half saw the WARHAWKS maintain a lead but the Pioneers hanging tight and closing to within a single point twice before the WARHAWKS made an 8-0 run with about seven minutes remaining to go up 74-65 and hold their biggest lead of the half.  The Pioneers would get to within three but were held off when the WARHAWKS went 10-10 from the free throw line over the closing minute.

Miles Barnstable led all scorers with 27 points while Trevon Chislom added 22 and James Kelly finished with a double-double 12 points and 10 rebounds.  Jameer Barker chipped in 10 points.  The WARHAWKS forced 17 Pioneer turnovers while committing just 8 themselves which resulted in a 24-10 scoring advantage off of them.

I am extremely interested to see UWW compete in the WIAC. I believe they have the most talent but don't think they will finish #1.

My question is... With the only team ranked higher than the Warhawks losing twice (albeit to ranked teams), will the Warhawks rise to #1 in the next poll?
