Exactly what I was saying.

One of the weakest seasons in the WIAC.

Interestingly enough, 3 teams from within 25 miles of each other all made the tournament.  UWP, Loras, Dubuque

6'4" Aurora Christian(IL) W, Cam Morel, has committed to Platteville.

It helps tremendously to win your nonconference games, no matter how good or bad the schedule is. I see very few marquee games that the ARC played...or even won. But, when the top of your league only has one or two or even zero nc losses for each team, then you're going to have some pretty good records and with that, being regionally ranked and have a lot of vRROs in your pocket. The WIAC didn't do that. Lots of nonconference losses.

Comparing the WIAC wins and loses with tournament teams my rough draft has them at 8-23. This includes loses to Platteville during the WIAC season and tournament. Platteville went 3-2. Stevens Point and Whitewater went 2-2. Quality teams still want to schedule WIAC teams the ball didn't bounce the right way this year. Next year will be a different story.

Quickly I think we've more than 8 wins against the tournament field. Heck, Oshkosh has the most games and tied for the most wins with Platteville.

LAX 0-5
RF 1-3
PV 3-2
EC 0-3
ST 1-4
WW 2-2
SP 2-3
OSH 3-3

You're right my rough draft missed a few especially Oshkosh. Next time I will do my research in the morning.

Couple of other notes from this. Obviously Platteville can't play themselves, so their five games come from nonconference and everyone else gets at least two games from Platteville. Only one of the WIAC wins comes against a Pool C team, that's Platteville against Calvin. All the rest are wins against a Pool A team.

This certainly appears to be the case.

ARC final record--  non-con schedule ranks -- record vs. top 100 Massey ranked non-con teams:

Coe  21-5 186th--- 1-1 Illinois College lost Gustavus Adolphus won
Dubuque 21-6  255th --- 2-0 Whitworth and St. Norbert won
NWU 23-4 293rd  -----  1-0 UW-Oshkosh  won
Loras 23-5 386th ---- 1-0 WI. Lutheran won

The ARC teams benefited from weaker non-con schedules where you pile up wins and very weak bottom of the conference.  The four tournament teams vs. the bottom four teams in the conference went a combined 31-1.

In the WIAC the top seven teams are all inside the Massey 100.  It's hard to compile a gaudy record with that much parity.

Illinois Wesleyan is another example on the first four out side  19-10  16th ---- 3-5 Massey non-con record...turn a couple of those into cupcakes and you're 20+ wins and in.

All of that said, these ARC teams are all legit and belong, but stumbled upon an interesting path this season to get the top four teams to the dance.

Platteville is on a hot streak right now on the recruiting trail.  6'1" Stoughton G, Sawyer Schipper, has committed to the Poineers.  Schipper has really come on strong the last 2 years, very good get for Platteville.

WIACer

Congrats UWP. They were the class of the WIAC. WW not sure what happened? They had the talent, but the wheels fell off. Head scratcher, but they didn't look like they were having fun toward the end. From the outside looking in. The others were solid teams, but on any given day they would win or lose to each other.

The ARC, if I did my research correctly, was 4-7 vs tournament teams, including their 0-1 vs Platteville.

1-1 v Fontbonne (SLIAC)
1-1 v Bethany Lutheran (UMAC)
0-1 v Illinois College (MWC)
0-1 v CMS (SCIAC)
0-1 v St. Thomas (SCAC)
1-1 v WLC (NACC)
1-0 v Whitworth (NWC)

The ARC was 3-4 vs the WIAC...it was basically chalk where the top teams beat the bottom teams in each matchup.

Platteville beat Central
La Crosse beat Wartburg
Eau Claire beat Wartburg
La Crosse beat Luther

Loras beat Stout
Neb Wes beat Oshkosh

I think this was probably expected, but Brody Fox is entering the transfer portal.  I would assume he will get loads of interest from scholarship schools.

Quote from: PauldingLightUP on February 23, 2024, 12:10:01 PMThis is a stunner. What an opportunity for Stackpool this spring and summer. Newer AD, who knows what direction Eau Claire will go in.

Rumor is Bob Semling is a strong candidate.
