Greek Tragedy

I read that La Crosse has now beaten Stevens Point 13 straight times! That is sad and crazy at the same time. I guess that makes Dernbach 0-3 against his old team.

I watched the Platteville/Oshkosh MBB game after the Point loss to LaCrosse.

Point fans and pundits always diss the Titans, but I'd keep my eyes wide open playing them.

Oshkosh clearly needed to make a major offensive change without MMG.  They were working on it early but lost the inside game in the second 10 minutes.  In the second half, they found a guard based attack with Joey LaChapell and others, to include Reed Seckar, and it worked.  Platteville fouled excessively and Oshy made some shots. I think they achieved a lot last night.

Any of you Points elites know the economics of that endzone beer club at Quandt or those less than luxury boxes in the end zone at Bo Ryan Court?  Do they pay to get in and more for excessive amounts of Point Beer?

40 clams gets you in for all-you-can-eat and, I think, two drink tickets each. Last year it was 30 George Washingtons. For an adult regular ticket to see a game, it's $10. Do the math.

Well it's the first year I can drink legally, and I don't find drinking to be critical to enjoying the game.  I do pay the $10 ticket price and buy one of those hideous hot dogs they sell behind the visitor bench. I'm sure the roast beast in the end zone is better, so be it. Thanks for the info.

At Bo Ryan Court you get a VIP lanyard based on the donation you make to the basketball program. That gets you in the lower suite and one Potosi beverage you can purchase additional beverages if you want. The upper suite is rented out for group outings and I don't know the cost and what's included.

6'2" Hampshire(IL) HS G, Ryan Prowicz, has committed to Platteville:

Falcons played their best game so far in downing EC, at EC. Huschka is very good at 6'7", and quick, for EC. Both teams played well and hard. Interesting matchup as the brothers Renta went at it hard. Mateo shut his brother Andre down, stuck to him like a leach, holding him to 7. Coach B. may have started Mateo, who ordinarily plays much less than he did Saturday, but I didn't watch until second half. At any rate, it was good strategy and good entertainment for Falcon fans. Already looking forward to EC at RF in second round.
The next two games, at home Wednesday and Saturday vs Point and Platteville, will go a long way to show what RF really has.

MESSAGE TO RECRUITS:  IN DOUBT? ENROLL AT STOUT. DON'T CARE? GO TO EAU CLAIRE. AT A LOSS? TRY LACROSSE. FEELIN' OUTTA JOINT? YOUR PLACE IS POINT. DON'T LIKE THE REST? DO WHAT'S BEST!

GOT BALLS? PLAY FOR THE FALLS!

WIACer

Watching uwec vs uwp. One thing for sure. You need to beat uwp and survive the refs. 2 different games being called.

'95 Blugold

Blugolds go on the road and fall to the Pioneers 79-68. Blugolds played a good 30 minutes and let by as many as 9 but then fell apart during the final 10 minutes when poor shooting and foul trouble kicked in and also Platteville just seemed like they couldn't miss.

Pearson is the LBJ of the WIAC. Never isn't a foul victim down the stretch.

Greek Tragedy

Point escapes self-inflicted issues to pull out a 55-53 win. Looks like an early, possibly ugly battle in the first 5 minutes of the game. River Falls lead 5-4. The hosts went up 13-8 before Point put on a run and built a 6-pt lead at 23-16 with a little over 6 to play. They'd take an 8-pt lead into intermission. The visitors extended their lead several times after the break, building a 42-28 lead with a little more than 14 minutes to go. The Falcons went on a 9-0 run to cut it to 5 with 12 minutes to go. Point rebounded and got the lead back up to 11 at 48-37 with 9 minutes to go. The visitors proceeded to score just 7 points the rest of the way, including nothing in the last 3 minutes of the game with the score 55-50. In fact, neither team scored in the last 2:10 after the first of two FTs by River Falls' Jack Leifker made it 55-53. After a couple of missed shots and turnovers by both teams, Point's Malik Abdul-Wahid was fouled with 9 seconds to go. With a chance to ice the game with 2 FTs, Abdul-Wahid instead missed the front end of a 1 and 1 to give the ball back to the Falcons. River Falls called a timeout with 2 seconds left and Zac Johnson got free for a good look at the winning 3 at the buzzer, but airmailed it, letting Point escape with a win.

Josiah lead Point with 19, but was 1-7 from 3. He also lead the visitors with 7 rebounds. Darrius Bolden was the only other Pointer in double-figures with 11. Point was 21-56 from the field but had just 3 assists. They were outrebounded 37 to 30. They were just 4-17 from 3 and only 9-15 from the FT line. On the bright side, Point did cause 18 TOs by the Falcons. Some pretty ugly numbers, but got the win.

Jack Leifker was the only Falcon in double-figures with 11.
