Greg,

Here's my thoughts on North Park

Thanks for the analysis, BW. Much appreciated. Good luck to the Warhawks as well this year!

Note to Titan2000: Stay off the football board.  They have no sense of humor there and they will for sure not understand yours.  I, on the other hand, think you are quite clever even though TVD according to Joe LaBuda, his classmate and teammate in HS, tells me that he likes fishing better than hunting.
I tried telling him the same thing a few weeks ago.........

Since we are talking about tall white guys (  ;D ), is Kerry Gibson getting any calls?  he seems to be a more polished player than Nonemacher.
Yes, there have been some "inquiries" about Gibson as well..... (Notice I didn't say interest.)

I'm glad the D1 programs in the state are willing to scrimmage us.  It makes us better small college teams, I believe.

Actually one of them wasn't this year and cancelled the contract with us.  I won't mention any names but they lost to UW-Parkside instead.

The Stout score made we wonder if Bo and Eddie don't get along.  Particularly the last basket when the BADGERS got a rebound, up by almost 50 points with 14 seconds remaining, and scored again.  Maybe I'm way off base but I wondered if would have done that to Platteville.

isn't that the job of a basketball team?  I know when i coached a tournament team we did that every game.  we pressed until the 4th even up by alot, we scored until we couldn't score anymore and it was never because of 'lack of respect' for the other team.  My viewpoint is that a loss is a loss whether it be by 1 or 65 and if you are on the court you play to win and win big........If i was Coach Andrist I would have no qualms about someone 'running up the score' on me.  Even with 14 seconds left it defeats the purpose of playing hard if you are 'not wanting to embarass the other team'

I know the way of playing the game out till the end is a lost art but if Wisconsin was doing this with the end of the bench, that is a different story than doing it with the starters

also, what the hell are you agreeing with me on anything for! ;D

I bet you made a lot of friends in the coaching community.  ;)

The end of the bench had  been playing for some time and the lead was nearly 50 points.  Ninetynine percent  of the coaches in the world hold the ball in that scenario.  What does WISCONSIN have to prove at that point?

Holding the ball with a 50 point lead and 14 seconds remaining "defeats the purpose of playing hard."  No offense intended but that statement is absurd and I've seen WISCONSIN teams do it a hundred times if I've seen it once.   You really think they'd do that to Tom Izzo or another BigTen program?

I don't know that Eddie had any qualms and I'm not suggesting that he did.   Perhaps it was as meaningless as the rest of the game.

I'm just guessing the kids at the end of the bench wanted to get on the stat sheet...even if they've been playing for awhile.  Anytime someone who doesn't play gets in the game, they'll do what they can to impress their friends in the stands or whatever.  If Bo and Eddie didn't get along, they would've never scheduled the scrimmage.

It's obvious that Bo wouldn't do that to Tom Izzo because they know they'll meet again during the season, or the following year and the other team will "remember" that.  This was a scrimmage...I seriously doubt the Stout players were thinking revenge "when they come up to our house"! lol.  :D

OS, no offense but you miss the point entirely.  It's not about revenge nor whether they ever meet again and any WIAC team willing to sign on to the agreement gets the opportunity to play them when their turn comes up.  Stout signed up.  It was their turn.   Bo and Eddie didn't schedule the game. But I've already made more comments than I intended so I'll just let the topic die a blissfull death.  I'm probably way off base and the two are fishing/hunting buddies.  It was just a thought that crossed my mind.  I probably should have left it there.

I'm not bitter either and I haven't a clue where you got that from.   It had no real impact on my life so I was only bemused.  Why would I be bitter that they didn't want to play us?  That confuses me.

It was a very positive experience for Lawrence University in 2005--even though Bucky pulled away in the second half.  I can't believe people are whining about a game that Wisconsin is so gracious to host.

Whiners !!  >:( >:(

Now Carroll gets its shot this week--lets see how they do !!

BW,

No big deal.  I didn't realize that the whole WIAC was "in line" to play Bucky.  as for being bitter, that was sarcasm, possibly because "they" passed on playing Whitewater.  That's all.  :P

OS, every school had the chance to sign up but I'm not sure that all of them did.

Mr. Downtown

I know Oshkosh probably won't play Madison anytime soon. TVD doesn't like the deal that the schools only get a free hotel room, and later they get their butt's kicked by 40 some points.

The only D-I teams I see Oshkosh playing, is Green Bay and Milwaukee. And that's a big if.

Ok, you guys were discussing the notion that there cannot be a possibilty that Nonemacher is getting calls from the NBA. I was just quoting the coach that I saw in person on Media Day state that he fields calls daily about Jacob.

Mr. Downtown

By the way, who were the two SID's that picked Stout in the preseason polls??

4 WIAC teams ranked in the top 27 in the pre-season poll plus LU & Carroll. Should be a good year for lots of great "small" college basketball in the Badger state!

However, one thing really ruffles my feathers. I think its blasphemy to refer to WIAC teams as "small" college. The ONLY reason they are D3 is the lack of athletic scholarships. On top of being state supported schools which makes them financially attractive, the schools that are good in BB have 5---8 thousand students. This makes them 2-4 times bigger than most D3 schools. They SHOULD be good with such built in advantages. And no, its not sour grapes as I have several relatives who are grads of various fine WIAC schools. Its just from a competitive standpoint I don't think most really "small" college teams are afforded a level playing field (or court!).
