I've seen the Freeman kid play, and I know how good he is (his twin isn't bad either) but when you lose 8 of your top 9, you should not beat the #4 team in the country. Now, I understand that IWU goes by the motto, "We don't rebuild, we reload"...but they still should not have beaten WW plain and simple.
So, what can we expect from WW this year. Will Pat get his boys going? Should be another interesting year in the WIAC!!!

Maybe the problem isn't WW losing to IWU, but rather WW shouldn't be the #4 team in the country.

Didn't Point, who lost all of their players beat the #2 team (Oshkosh) in the nation last year?   :D

I just hopped over to UWSP's site and read the game notes again from the Lawrence game and saw a stat I hadn't seen before... Lawrence had scored on 10 out of their last 11 possessions before the miss that sealed the victory for the Pointers.

Point is going for the MWC sweep tonight in the opener in Quandt!

I'm somewhat new to this board but I have a couple of questions about players in Wisconsin.  Please bare with me if these questions have already been answered.  I saw a kid by the name of Cory Stewart play last year from Nicolet High School.  Does anyone know where he ended up.  I was also on the Stout roster I see that Adam Chandler is not part of the team.  Does anyone know why?  I heard Stengle(sp?) wasn't coming back towards the end of the year last year but it suprised me to see that Chandler was not on the roster.

It looks like the Pioneers survived today against University of Dubuque. As much trouble as UD has had in the past couple years, it seems as if they always manage to hang in close with Platteville. Anyone attend and can give a better account of the game.
UWP plays tomorrow against Loras.

Point wins tonight, but hardly in impressive fashion.  Thought I'd see PS's take on it already, but it's not up yet.

Point gets great balanced scoring tonight.  Six players score in double-figures with 3 scoring 12 each and Beamish almost making it 7 players.  Horrible defense by Point and Semling made sure the general public knew his feelings as well on the post game show on the radio.

Anyone with a big capable man in the middle will give Point troubles this year, ummm....Stout (Nonemacher), Oshkosh (Gibson), Whitewater (Fruend), La Crosse (Werner)...should I go on?

Brian Schmitting goes off for 21 in the first half, but only ends up with 29.  Not sure why Ripon just didn't give him the ball every possession.  Bo Johnson didn't do much, but Ripon had some pretty quick guards (McMullen) and seemed to outrebound us.  I haven't seen the boxscore, but the game wasn't pretty from a defensive standpoint.  Offensively, looked really good.

Oshkosh will be a big test and hopefully Semling will have the boys ready.

Mr. Downtown

Oshkosh will have almost a week's worth of practice gearing up for Point Old School...so count on the Titans to be ready.

After trailing 46-28 at half, RF played much better in the second half, but lost 87-73 to Macalester. The Falcons started three juniors, 2 freshmen. There are no seniors on the roster. One of the freshmen, Nate Robertson, 6'7", had perhaps the best stat line ever for a true freshman at RF: 26 pts., 15 rbds. Ryan Thompson scored 18.

The Scots won on superior shooting, 55% to 38%, despite being out rebounded by a wide margin. Falcon freshman Jontae Koontaew, 5'8", got 11 boards. RF took 68 shots, Macalester 55.

Woldeslassie, 5'7", was the difference for Mac. He had 23, including 5/6 on threes, five assists, and played tuff D. Conboy got 20.

RF will have big trouble winning in the WIAC with little experience and nobody over 6'7".

The WARHAWKS finally took it to a team they should take it to and beat Beloit College 76-51 last night.   The game was competitive for roughly ten minutes before the WARHAWKS heated up and built a comfortable sixteen point lead 38-22 by the half.   The hot shooting continued into the second half as the lead was twenty plus within the first three minutes and grew to twentynine before a couple of three-pointers by the Buccaneer in garbage time cut it to the final.

WW dominated the  boards 40-20.   Backup guard Rob Dixon was 5-5 from the floor including 3-3 on three-pointers and a perfect 4-4 from the line to lead the team with a career high 17 points in 16 minutes of play.   Dustin Mitchell was also a perfect 5-5 from the floor and added 10 points.  Mike Toellner also added 10 points.  Reserve forward Josh King played well with 6 points and 6 rebounds in 10 minutes.  Gio Riley led all rebounders with 7 and also had 3 steals.

Point has the same problem.  Everyone seems to be 6'5".  Freshman Dorner may not play this year and he's 6'7", I believe.  Jerome Wotachek is 6'8", but he doesn't play much and when he does, he isn't looking to score.  Point's post defense was non existent against Brian Schmitting of Ripon.  He went for 29....21 in the first half.  This worries me.
