BIG NEWS OUT OF PLATTEVILLE...

Anyone else expecting an announcement with the post starting like this...?

... But anyway, I think the game against La Crosse will really be the measuring stick.

The reason I gave up my season tickets, to sit in the Reserve seats was the lack of emotion from the old timers. At age 52, i am closer in Age to them, but I will sit with the Students and the Band for fun. As long as our students do not taunt too much, swear, and get too intoxicated , they are the best! I am not yet as high as some of our younger posters, about the Pioneers. But, as the great Ronald Reagan said, "not bad, not bad at all."It will be a tough game on WEd but I am looking forward to it. Go Pioneers and God Bless! PS, the OZone did a great job on Saturday, and I saw no negative or heard anything inappropriate. Good JOB!

Considering last years Pioneer squad, I'd say its pretty big news...but thats just me.
Like I said, I was not all that impressed with Loras and will continue to believe that LaCrosse just had an off night. I'm assuming Werner and Co. will be ready to go as the WIAC regular season gets underway. We'll see what kind of team the Pioneers have as Lax visits Williams Fieldhouse on the 6th.

Mr. Downtown

What is the make up of this Platteville team? Because when I look at it...i see a good defensive team...and that's pretty much it.

Well Plattville has the people as long as they execute

C Skemp-hopefully the last game vs Stout will be the turning point, he has great potential

F Goose-Probably the team leader has developed a very good outside shot

G- Lohoff- good outsider shooter still young only a soph but again loads of potential

G Jamerson- good penatrator who can hit the ocasional 3

G Shaw- freshman guard who has already had a few big games

and a good bench Bo, Stotmeister, tetschlag, and hanson

time will only tell,

Thank you for the report on Point. You are right they are playing very well. Are you guys playing in the Dubuque Holiday this year. I may go down and see a few games over the Holidays!

Point gets to go out to Colorado to play Regis College the Saturday before Christmas and then heads to Northern Michigan on the following Wednesday or Thursday.  New Year's weekend, they host Augustana, I think...and then that Monday the play Lakeland...or something like that.  ;)

Old School: thank you for the update on the SP schedule. I saw them play a couple of games in the DBQ Holiday tournament last year! Good posting guys. Mr Downtown: My fellow PV fan gave you a good summary of my beloved pioneers. I see our team as a lot like SP, a team not one Superstar. We slow it down and take a lot of high percentage shots, kind of like your Titans. God Bless!

La Crosse had a nice crowd for the Eau Claire game.  I had thought that the good turnout for Viterbo reflected the local opponent and the ceremony for Luke Homan.  Looks like we might actually have some interest in the program.

The team looked pretty good.  Some have said that we will be a test for Platteville.  Of course they will also be a test for us.

Quite the WIAC contingent on the top 25.  Point moves up to #7 with victories over Oshkosh and River Falls, Oshkosh moves up to #14, up 5 spots despite the loss to Point, Platteville crosses the threshold and jumps to #15 after beating Stout, Whitewater drops to #25 after the loss to La Crosse, and La Crosse gains 58 pts to become the third team receiving votes.

Don't know if anyone else saw, but UWO dropped a non-conference game to Elmhurst last night 55-52.  UWO took a 52-50 lead with 3:13 left, but never scored the rest of the way.  Elmhurst hit a three ball with 0:08 remaining for the win.  (Jordan Johnson's three point attempt at the buzzer fell short as the Titans dropped to 2-2 on the season.)

Elmhurst is 4-1 on the season, with their other wins coming against St. Norbert, Rockford, and the Illinois Institute of Teachnology.  They dropped their season opener at Simpson, 82-71.

This game tonight between Point and Whitewater scares me for one glaring reason... it's the first game of the year between Point and WW.  Each of that last 6 seasons, WW has won the first game of the series between the two teams.  In 5 of the last 6 (last year excepted) Point turned around and has defeated WW, many times quite convincingly... but, this is the first game.

This is Point's 4th game against a ranked opponent so far this season.  They've played pretty well for having played teams that, at least, are percieved initially as tough teams!

Everyone must be at a game tonight.

Point defeats WW 75-73.  Just looking at the box...Krull scores 23, Pointers shoot 54% including 10-24 from the arc.  WW gets 21 from Price and 16 from Freund.  Point turns the ball over 14 times!  Uncharacteristic.

Others:  EC beats RF 63-62; LC beats PLT 69-56; Stout beats SUP 76-61

Point scores 6 points in the final 10 seconds to steal the win? Let's hear the noise! What happened.
