I listened to the post game show on UWPvs UWW.Hawks up up by 13 at half. PV went on 24-4 run to start 2nd HALF and hung on. Gossens played 38 minutes tonight and had 15pts and 7 rebounds. What a difference. The WIAC player of the week missed a three at the buzzer for UWW. Radio people said UWP played great D in 2nd half contesting every shot. How about someone report in who saw the game live? Thank you and God Bless!

Jontae Koonkaew's line: 7/8 f.g., 2/3 threes, 8/10 f.t., 4 assts, 3 steals, 20 pts. Not bad for a freshman. Four t.o.'s only negative. Oshkosh/RF should be close Saturday.

Thank You IT IS: Why would you not play 3 guards at times against the Smaller UWP team? It would be matching up! Big win tonight for UWRF over Stout. I told you guys acouple of weeks ago that they will win 4 or 5 games in the conference. At Lacroose, did both teams shoot bricks all night, or was it good defense? Blessings to all!

Match up?  Whitewater was rolling...use Kori Vernon and Rob Perry and pound the ball inside and let the pieces fall where they may.  Platteville took advantage and came out on top.  UWW allowed another home game slip away...luckily they got the one against UWRF or they would be seriously hurting.

I almost went to this game.  It's two hours for me, and I've been there before.  Considering I went to Oshkosh last Tuesday and Thursday, Point on Wednesday, Stout on Saturday and back to Point on Monday for basketball games (not to mention De Pere on Sunday and Shorewood on Tuesday for non-basketall things), I figured I'd give myself a rest.  Apparently I missed a pretty good game (depending on view).  Oh well.

I wouldn't even be home yet from Whitewater...and I now I have all the fantasy leagues up to date already.  Horray me! lol.  Point looked great again, btw.

Current WIAC standings:

Stevens Pt     7-0
La Crosse      5-1
Oshkosh        4-2
Whitewater    3-3
Platteville       3-3
River Falls      2-4
Stout              2-5
Eau Claire      1-5
Superior         1-5

I don't know that we've seen a separation like this in the WIAC in a long time...  Barring a complete collapse by the top three, this appears to be a three horse race!  Two more weeks and we'll be at the halfway point in the standings.

You can actually blame Charter.  My roommates and I did some investigation at Charter, being so upset about not seeing the Packer/Viking game. We found out that it would cost each Charter member an additional 70-some cents if NFL network were to go on the extended basic cable.  Instead we get channels like G4 (video gaming) Lifetime (no male on this board watches it) and other crap channels that are stuck on the extended basic.  An employee at Charter who I know also told me that Charter could easily get rid of some "low ratings" channels to off set the 70-some cent cost.  However, the big wigs at EC Charter won't do it because they are upset with the NFL.  Therefore, we are paying for Charter's stubbornness.  That is from the mouth of an employee.  I think I am going to DirecTV!!!  ;)

You can blame Charter.  I'm not willing to pay an extra seventy cents a month to see one game a year (assuming your source is correct).  I'm blaming the greedy, arrogant NFL.  As far as Lifetime, I watch it, and I am definitely male.  If that statement is an example of your research, I think it speaks to your whole argument.

Now to tonight's games.  What a wonderful night!  Lots of upsets and ultra close games.  The only real tarnish was the possibility that another close game was decided by a bench technical.

La Crosse played very well tonight, and Oshkosh was tough.  The defense was extremely good.  Also, the refs seemed to call the first half loosely and tighten up in the second.  I believe only about four fouls were called in the first 20.

Positive karma for the Charter comment, ditto! It looks like UWL or UWO needs to beat Point shortly or it will be a 1 horse race. Blessings!

The PLT/WW box score shows a technical foul on the Platteville bench, but then Charlie Lohoff of Platteville shot the free throws.  I'm guessing this was entered wrong and should have been a T on the Whitewater bench.

BW, can you fill us in?

The technical was on WHITEWATER'S bench not Platteville's.  Other than to say the  timing was a tough break I'm not going to comment on the call.   As was the incident when the official blew the ball dead to confer regarding the resetting of the time clock just as Jason Price drilled a three-pointer and we couldn't score after the ball was put back into play.

When the WARHAWKS don't play 40 minutes of basketball they're not very good.  After six turnovers in the first half and shooting 65% we turned it over 14 times and shot 38% in the second.   Of course you have to give Platteville some credit too.  They played with an intensity we didn't match in the second half and just kept going at it.   Make no mistake, they earned this win.

We're just going to have to hope that we can put things together and be more consistant by the time the tournament rolls around.

IF oshkosh beats whitewater next wednesday, then its going to be a three team race for the WIAC.

I guess La Crosse found a way to slow down Oshkosh  >:( :-\ :o

I agree Fred.  I was very impressed with RF to say the least.  They are athletic and disciplined.

Two more games and I'll start the conference "bracketology" again!

After next wednesday's games, will be the first batch.

Also, I know other boards do this, but anyone interested in doing a midseason awards poll? Would be interesting to see who everyone thinks is deserving to be all-conference, player of the year, coach of the year and stuff.

I dunno, just a thought.

I don't want to speak for Old School, but he usually has kept track of that stuff in the past...

In reviewing the UWS boxscore, it said 753 were at the game. is this correct? Nice crowd at Gates for a nonconference game God Bless!

Finlandia had quite a group there. I got an impression that the two players from Red Cliff had significant family/friends at the game. It's probably an hour and a half from here, depending on which side of the peninsula you come down. I suspect this and Northland College are the closest games they'll get to. I wonder if the crowd count was a sum of those who attended women's game and those who attended men's game. Might be a bit of a  suspicious number. Maybe they counted the people in the track and handball areas, too.
