I agree with the individual who said they should just throw out the whole system and start new. He is  right: The best teams in the nation should be in, not some unknowns who are all excited they got picked or invited to be in. They must be giddy with joy that  OSH and LX or Elmhurst didn't get INVITED- yes, invited.. What a croc. D 3 is a big joke

Tickets on Sale Tuesday for NCAA Tournament

Tickets for Saturday's NCAA Division III second round men's basketball contest at the Quandt Fieldhouse will go on sale Tuesday at 8 a.m. at the University Box Office inside the bookstore at 200 North Division Street.

All seats for the title game are reserved. Tickets are $7 for adults, $4.50 for students and $3 for UW-Stevens Point students with ID. There will be a maximum of eight tickets allowed per purchase.

Season ticket holders and parents are entitled to their regular seats and do not need to stand in line at the ticket office, but need to claim their seats by Friday at 4:30 p.m. A total of 250 seats have been reserved for the visiting team.

Tickets can also be bought by phone with use of a credit card, though individuals at the ticket office in person will be given first priority. The box office can be reached at 715-346-4100 or 800-838-3378.

The real problem is that Osh, Lax, and Elm would have just been thrown into this already ridiculously loaded bracket. Only one of us can make it to Salem as it is, no matter how many Salem caliber teams may or may not have been jobbed this year. ::) :-X

Teams that made it a head of La Crosse that I don't understand...

Hope
record vs 20 win teams: 0-0
record vs 18-19 win teams: 1-2
teams faced with 9 or fewer wins: 6 (6-0)

Guilford
record vs 20 win teams: 2-2
record vs 18-19 win teams: 2-0
teams faced with 9 or fewer wins: 6 (6-0)

Stevens
record vs 20 win teams: 0-1
record vs 17-19 win teams: 2-4
teams faced with 9 or fewer wins: 7 (6-1)

Mary Hardin-Baylor
record vs 20 win teams: 2-2
record vs 18-19 win teams: 0-1
teams faced with 9 or fewer wins: 13 (13-0)

compared to...

UW-LA CROSSE
record vs 20 win teams: 4-4 (3 losses to the #1 team in the nation)
record vs 18-19 win teams: 3-0
teams faced with 9 or fewer wins: 2 (2-0)

General Thoughts
1) Mary Hardin-Baylor played 13 games against teams with 9 or fewer wins.
2) Who did Hope beat??? Calvin only solid team faced and went 1-2 vs them.
3) Stevens doesn't really have a quality win either, and they also lost to a "9 wins or fewer team."
4) Is it possible to have a more difficult schedule then La Crosse??? Not to mention they handled Calvin with ease.

That is good stuff (looks like something old school would put together)

The good out of this is that all of us wiac posters are a little upset becuase in the end we rout for the conference and while i wont be wearing purple i will be a point fan for the tourny.

The cciw also has a bone to pick for they are a strong conference too.  maybe our travel cost is too much so they needed more teams in metro areas with not as for to go for games who knows.

I would think that we could form a seperate tourny with better all around teams then the national one.

Lax, Oshy and Elmhurst to start....
You are only as good as the people around you.

I would also add Wittenburg and Ohio Northern into our tournament.  Both teams beat Wooster.

good choices ... if you would like to add a team just give your reason why, this is'nt the NCAA  ;)

travel cost are not important.

I'm not going to complain anymore about the Dance.  Of course if others do, I'll read 'em ;)

In D1 there is the ACC/Big Ten challenge, how about a CCIW/WIAC challange in D3.  There are already games played between the two power conferences every year and if it can be organized into an annual event, even played at a neutral site in late November or early December over a span of two days, it could help bring attention to some of the best D3 has to offer.  FSN North has a WIAC game of the week, maybe they would show a couple of the games.  I don't know what the CCIW has for television coverage but the more media the better.

The WIAC/CCIW Challenge is one the best ideas I've seen in a long time.
But's let's be realistic.  What are the odds it'll ever happen?  What's the over-under on how many years it'll take to get done?
But, hey, when you dream, dream big.

I too have suffered through the Annual Annoyance of Selection Sunday.  I'll spare you all from further venting and leave by saying that I hope Stevens Point wins the whole darn thing.
I'm allergic to purple, but I'll be rooting for the Pointers.  And the Blue Devil ladies, too.  It's up to you to carry the banner.

NOBODY circles the wagons like the WIAC.... :D

I couldn't resist....

VD can be cleared up with certain creams but still cant make his players play hard!

If there was a tournament for Quotes of the Year, this would be a #1 seed.

I know this. I am saying the Pool B thing is a joke. I thought that could be inferred rather easily, but I guess I had to realize I was posting on the men's board and not the women's, so things had to be spelled out better. My bad!  ;D Either way, lots of WIAC teams have been punished over the years simply because of league parity. The ONLY way in looks like its going to be the conference tourney.

I was just being funny, tongue-in-cheek type stuff.  No big deal!  ;) :D ;D

Too late, OS. I cast my vote for the Pointers, who, after 1 tally in, are running away with the Sweet 16 option!  ;)

Oh, and as far as costs maybe being factors in the tournament selection process? And who goes where, and who therefore stays out? I'm not sure how that all shakes out, but...

I bet if the teams went into the season with the mindset they would be traveling for their post-season games, they'd find a way to raise the money in the summer prior to, and during the season. I know I've eaten more than my fair share of hotdogs, burghers and brats sold by the various Blugold teams who had food stands during the summer...

I know it's a pain in the butt to try to raise that money, but I'd be willing to bet if you asked each individual player if he/she would be willing to raise $$$ to play one more game in their season, a tournament game on the road, vs. being left out of the tournament because of geographical/budgetary considerations, they'd have the hat passed in a second... Hosting would be the icing on the cake...

But, hey, when you dream, dream big.

The WIAC and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference had an agreement and they played "The Border Battle" in the HHH Metrodome in the 1999 and 2000 football seasons.  The NSIC is a D2 conference which I guess doesn't really mean anything important here...  I'm sure the reason they stopped doing this was cost. Sending the team to Minneapolis, lodging, food, fee for the Metrodome, etc.

WIAC/CCIW chanllenge could be done, and would be great.  Another way to think about this though, is some of our favorite bubble teams would be adding another in region loss.  Should it held at a rotating venue?  One year either the Kohl Center, Fieldhouse, or Alliant Energy Center in Madison, then move to United Center or (can't think of DePaul's arena name) or someother type place.  Or do it just like the Big Ten/ACC where teams get home games/almost start with home/away series, then rotate teams.

It would be nice to see, very entertaining for sure.  I do wonder how much time would be needed or required to set something like that up.
