April, the genetic regression thing is more obvious when you consider intelligence.  It is a factor where spouses are MUCH more likely to be similar than height.  Again, we are one species, not two; therefore genetic regression.

Thanks for being so good-humored.  I've met Old School a few times.  Hope to meet you eventually.  We have an open football date at La Crosse.  Is Wheaton available?  ;)
Darn it! Does that mean I can't marry a guy with an IQ of 250 so my kids will have an IQ of 200 either? Boo.... this is a sad week for me. You guys are destroying all my dreams... :'( :-\ :D

Since we're a Christian school, I'm not really sure how Wheaton players would feel about playing against the Cross. :D And as much as I love Wheaton football (my little bro played), it's pretty hard to get to games over here in So Cal. And we're booked until 2009... www.wheaton.edu/Athletics/football/schedules.htm How about a La Crosse @ SCIAC Matchup?

April it sounds like you are not looking for someone for Wheaton but the next Greg Oden to play for the Badgers (not OSU) and the top draft pick.

I was told 6'9" was as high as I was going to get early in my life ... then like the energizer bunny I kept going and going and going.....
No, I'm definitely looking for a Joel Kolmodin type child. (D3hoops.com AA and Currently in Med School). Just... taller and with a little cartilage in his knees. :D

I don't just pretend to be a believer in D3, I am a believer in D3! and I mean, how else is Wheaton ever going to land a good center. I suppose if he really, really wanted, I would let him go to an Ivy or Georgetown or Duke on a full scholarship (which would have to be academic at the Ivies, I guess), but only if he graduates Summa Cume Laude in a real major in addition to being a star basketball player.  And even then I would have to try really hard to hide my disappointment. :D

I was always way, way over 100 percentile for height... then around 7th grade, I just stopped. :-\ At the time I was totally starting to drink coffee, and was glad I stopped growing cause it gave the boys a chance to catch up so they'd stop making fun of me. Looking back, it's probably my fault that I'm not taller. :D

My gf is 5'10" and played volleyball. should our little dating experiment work out who knows how tall the kids will be.  All I know is they better take care of their old man!!!!
Using the aforementioned Just Bill's Ridiculously Inaccurate Formula for Offspring Height EstimationTM your boys would be 6' 8.5" and your girls would be 6' 1.5"  That's assuming you're still 7' tall and haven't shot up since the end of the season.

You can always trust the JBRIFOHETM.

Nice formula but i got the anti-formula.  My mom is 5'9"ish and my dad 6'8", both of my granfathers were 6'8" at their peak.  As for the brothers and sister of us, boys 6'7" to 6'8" and my sister is 6'.  Oh then there are the teenage mutant ninja twins at 7'

so the math is off a little.

Obviously, you twins got several inches of height that belonged to my daughters. Cough it up.

What kind of father asks two strangers to give his daughter inches?

You should be ashamed of yourself.

What if it's the mother asking?

foul_language

What kind of poster only reads selected words? "Several inches of height"--worded specifically to duck any perverted reference. I see THAT didn't work.

ok, I know some of you....I met old school, had April's cookies, had my shot blocked and played on the same team as the twins (long story, a small gym in the middle of nowhere IOWA, a bunch of hot shooting Coe players, Busch Light)...so I feel comfortable saying this..

these conversations are HILLARIOUS!!!!
I actually did the math on the Just Bill's Ridiculously Inaccurate Formula for Offspring Height Estimation, since my wife is 5'3, I'm 6'4..and somehow it came up to my son would be 4'11..so I think I didnt carry a 2 or something!

I believe that according to Master Bills formula, that means that your son will be approximately 6' even.

Thanks for proving my theory that tall guys tend to marry very short women! :D

6 even isnt bad..I'd rather 6-2ish, but oh well...

Jake/John,
we went back to the tournament in the corn fields of Iowa, actually won a few games this year! I'm too old for this!

Hey, I need some Karma, someone hook me up please!!!

Pioneer Hoops Fan

Never played ball with the twins, and also never had my shot blocked that I can recall....kept running off screens and shooting 3's.  The lane and I are not best of friends, never really have been.

April,

I'll further confirm your theory.  I'm 6'5" wife 5'4".  Friend of mine 6'8" his wife is 5'3".  The list really could go on and on.

Stout survivor

7' had an ex girl friend who was 5'4" and Jesse Piehl (the third seven footer at stout 2 years ago) has a girlfriend who is on the gymnatics team here who is 5'3 maybe

Keith that was the smallest gym i have ever played in but got to see the Field of Dreams movie site while we were there.

Pioneerhoops I would be glad to block you if you would like, I could also dunk on and hit a three on you too just for fun.

Joe Werner update....look about a page down on the link and you'll find a little paragraph about him.

Okay, Jake.  Time to tell us what it is going to be like playing for Eric Gardow again.  I will say no more at this point and let you or your   brother tell this fascinating little basketball tale.

Stout survivor

LAXGUY thanks for the werner update, should I get my werner jersey now ;D

Jake is in Qatar playing for Al Rayyan.  The next couple weeks are practice then the tourny is in Iran.  Just after he agreed to play for them they fired their head coach and Gardow got the job .... small wourld. He will ba back to visit the in-laws then to Montana before Germany.

I however have been left behind to move out of two apartments (mine and helping his wife), good thing we are neighbors.
