Greek Tragedy

Because I was bored...

Stevens Point's schedule has yet to be released, but thanks to my crack team of investigators, they've come up with 22 out of the 25 regular season games (assuming we're scheduling 25).

11/17 v Carroll
11/24 v Lakeland
12/1 @ Whitewater
12/5 @ La Crosse
12/8 v Lawrence
12/10 @ Viterbo
12/15 @ Ripon
12/22 @ Augustana
1/5 v Oshkosh
1/9 v River Falls
1/12 v Platteville
1/16 @ Stout
1/19 v Superior
1/23 v Eau Claire
1/26 @ Oshkosh
1/30 @ River Falls
2/6 v Stout
2/9 @ Superior
2/13 @ Eau Claire
2/16 v Whitewater
2/20 v La Crosse
2/23 @ Platteville

Strange conference schedule, if I did it right, with a stretch of 5 out of 6 at home and then a stretch of 4 out of 5 away...and the first two conference games on the road.

I'm guessing Edgewood would be thrown in there and I have no idea who the other two teams are.

Mr. Ypsi

Point Special,

Thanks for the mileage on Finlandia to UWSP and UWS - didn't realize SP would be that close, and relied on memory (rarely wise!) for Superior.  Both are enough over 200 that probably not even the NCAA could make them in-region (despite pulling it off with Hope-Carthage)!

Poor Finlandia.  Their only <200-mile in-region game is Northland (whom they already play).  Otherwise their nearest in-region game is Alma (445 miles, including crossing the BigMac which can be dicey during bball season, and where they ARE playing a tourney this season).  Next nearest would be either Olivet or Calvin - I didn't run them, but they are enough farther than Alma to go over 500.  I'm launching a campaign to move Finlandia to the West Region - there must be at least 20 schools in Wisconsin and Minnesota closer than any Michigan school!  If they ever improved enough to be pool B contenders, there is no way they could schedule enough in-region games to have a chance.

A double dip with Finlandia is alot easier on your record than say a short trip to Appleton for a home/away with Lawrence.

And the hunting and fishing up there at Finlandia is a lot better too. ::)

It'll be easier now that Tharp is gone.  :P ;D :D ;)

Don't sell DePagter short.  He has been out fishing and hanging at Gander Mountain all summer trying to get insides Ted's head.  He told me he thinks he overdid it.

I'm not, hence all the  ;) :D ;D :P

They have four of their five starters back with only Osland gone.  Upperclass laden with three seniors and four juniors back in their regular rotation (7 of top 8 players back).  They should be fine for at least the next two years and then we'll see how JoJo does in his recruiting.

Probably the only slim chance he had was if Franks or Lee got hurt/traded.  It's definitely a memorable experience to be playing at Lambeau!  I'm sure he'll find some basketball career, if he chooses to go that route.

Stevens Point Schedule

Looks like we're playing Northern Michigan after all...it's up on the Northern Michigan schedule as well.  Trip out to Cal. Lutheran too (California trip for ONE game, at least it's a regional game! lol)...and as predicted, Edgewood.   Guess that rumored Amherst trip didn't pan out...and I don't mean Amherst, WI, Swampgoon!

Tough stretch of 5 games on the road with three in one week (Viterbo, Edgewood, Ripon), then going out of state to Augie (should be another great game!) and Cal Lutheran... who I know nothing about!

I wonder if UWSP will play an exhibition against a D1 while they are out in California.

The NFL was always a long shot for Werner.  A friend was at Lambeau for family day and said that he looked puny compared to the other tight ends.

Point has a full schedule of 25 games listed... they'd need to have only 24 to be able to play an exhibition.

I wouldn't think they'd play an exibition game in the middle of the season either.  :P

You actually can play 25 plus an exhibition now.

Not to mention that a lot of small schools are playing D1 opponents in December/January during the break to tune up for games after the break. Plus a nice paycheck from the D1's. So I wouldn't think it would be a bad move for UWSP to play a D1 while out in California.
