I know that there was some talk, years back, of a permanent location for the conference tournament semifinals and finals.  The La Crosse Center was allegedly under consideration.  Considering the rebirth of the UWL program, I doubt anyone would cede those to us as home games.

Maybe the gym in Wisconsin Dells would be a possibility.  Home city to none of us!

I know the MWC post season tourney takes the top four and plays them at the #1 seeded team.  It takes away the home court advantage of the #2 seed, but it gets them in a central location and play it on Friday and Saturday nights....I think the new CCIW tourney does it the same way...

With the WIAC, I think you could have the quarters hosted by the top four seeds on a Tuesday and then play the semis and final on Friday and Saturday at the highest remaining seed...but with that, it throws off what the conference has been doing all year, NOT playing on back to back nights.  I know the MWC has some game nights on Friday and then on Saturday when the south teams play the north teams or vice versa.

As has the MIAA for 16 years of its tournaments.  We play Wednesday quarters, Friday night semis' and Saturday night Championship.  Its a pretty fun weekend.

I've never thought the Friday/Saturday schedule diminished the quality of play on Saturday.  These are 20 year olds! :D

The #2 v #3 games have typically been the best matchups over the years.  Usually because the losers season is completely done with no hope of an NCAA bid and its a completely neutral court.

UWS-Northwestern game. That was a no-brainer pretty much from the start. I'm impressed with the leadership Dwight Hill shows; in two games, admittedly the second being a game that didn't need much leadership, he seemed to me to be pretty mature for a sophomore. I like to watch him, because for his size he's pretty nervy.

Overall, UWS needs to improve its passing--probably true of all freshmen. I think they can be scrappy under the basket, though. I like Greg Roeder; he may get pushed around some, but he doesn't give up that easily. Probably comes from being in a family full of kids/athletes. I'll bet pickup games at the Roeder house were interesting.

It would be nice if UWS could ease into the WIAC with progressively more challenging teams. I doubt if schedules get set up that way.

Color me confused because I'm guessing you meant Northland, not Northwestern.  According to the schedule, they played Northland on Tuesday and Northwestern comes up in mid-January, unless they switched the game!

Oh yeah, being up in Canada, I'm sure Superior is more worried about simply scheduling games, rather than making the nonconference schedule increasingly difficult! lol  :D ;D

Just a Game Fieldhouse is a four-court fieldhouse with nothing but temporary seating.  It's made for weekend summer tournaments, not a college game.  There isn't a "main court".

UWEC defeated Hamline 87-67 last night.  Another good game from freshman Ryan Shea.

I am getting the impression that EC might be a tad bit better than most people were predicting.

I'm hoping so.  I think they will be a little better than last year on the defensive end.  If Shea and Probst can continue to help Beyer out on the scoring end, they could climb the WIAC ladder.  There were a lot of good senior players on other teams last year who are now gone.  EC lost less than those teams.

On the other hand, we will have to wait and see how they do in conference.  They did win by 20 against Hamline, but Hamline is supposed to finish last in the MIAC.

Must have been looking at something; obviously wasn't thinking.

Oshkosh improves to 3-0 with a 13 point victory over Hamline.  Their 3-0 record isn't exactly anything to "brag" about considering the competition, however they are three victories for a pretty inexperienced team.

Platteville hands Webster its first loss and remains undefeated.  They play Washington U which lost to Augustana today.  Skemp & Tetschlag had good games and Hanson was 4 of 7 from 3 point range.  I don't know if Washington was overrated with the preseason #1 or is Augie and  Calvin (which handed Washinton their first loss) that good.  Good quality compitition for the Pioneers as they prepare for the rough & tumble WIAC.

Both Calvin and Augie are very good teams, probably "top ten" good.  Wash U returns a lot from their Final Four team a year ago.
