Koonkaew's injury, to the ACL it's thought, may keep him out the rest of the year. An MRI scheduled for tomorrow. He's on crutches now. If he's done, he can get a medical red shirt.

Any way you look at it, it's bad for the Falcons.

Oh man you gotta be kidding me... this is terrible.

OH, YOU KNOW I'M IN!!!!!

First "Pick Em" picks:

3)  RF over Osh, like RF returners and don't trust the Titans new group of starters yet

Well, River Falls lost Koonkaew, which is really bad, considering I like the guy, he's a tough player and maybe one of the better defenders on the team.

Oshkosh really doesn't have a totally new group of starters since DJ Marsh (starter last year) looked good against St. Norb's and Jordan Johnson (starter) plays a lot taller than his 6'4" frame.  Though against some really bad teams, Matt Miller showed he can score over the weekend.  Dane-Seckar Anderson has All-Conference written all over him with his impressive inside play and hustle.  With Miller and DSA starting now (they played extensive minutes last year), Oshkosh's bench is not very deep, IMO.  Ryan Johnsen is the best off the bench.

Since you are in nearby Appleton, you should come down HWY 41 and make the trip tomorrow for the game against Elmhurst.  Should be a dandy.

I plan on being there and pushing little kids out of the way so I can get my hands on the coveted Oshkosh Titans t-shirts they throw out to the fans!

Old School,

Can't make it, BIG DePere men's league game tomorrow ;)

Koonkaew's injury is a tuff one for the Falcons, he's never where you expect him to be (playing against him) and if you spend even an extra second trying to find him, he's already burned you waiting on the other end.

Cody K--Were you at or did you listen to or hear about UWS vs Bemidji? Looks like it was a good game.

The first one isn't a huge surprise, but La Crosse going down there and beating Augie?  WOW! Congrats!

Mane and Nehring come up huge with 24 and 18 a piece.

EC wins over St. Scholastica

A Koonkaewless RF loses to Finlandia at home.

2 big wins for the WIAC over the CCIW's top dogs.  Awesome!

Went to the Oshkosh game tonight...game report to follow tomorrow.  Pretty exciting game, though the first time I realized I wasn't by myself was when Matt Miller hit a 3 pointer with 30 seconds left and the crowd stood up for the first time.  What a lame crowd...seriously, back and forth with 21 lead changes and the crowd isn't even in it.

40 points in the paint and holding the other team to 33% shooting will usually do it. EC beats St. Scholastica, 73-57. Beyer and Shea lead the scoring. Both teams played physical "D."

Nothing really stood out from the Oshkosh freshman.  Schrimpf started, but there wasn't anything that I can remember that made me say, "Wow".  I think he was in there to not make mistakes and obviously Oshkosh is relying on Marsh, DSA, JJ and M&M to do the work...and that's just fine.  Ryan Johnsen didn't start, but he had a pretty solid day from the field going for 10 points on 3 of 4 shooting while playing two more minutes than Schrimpf.  I could see Johnsen starting, unless coach has a plan to bring him off the bench as a spark and some leadership if the starters are getting a rest.  Some players are just better suited for coming off the bench, and like I said, he played more minutes too.
Old School,
Guess I can finally comment on this now that somebody took Schrimpf in the fantasy draft....  I was hoping he would still be around for my 6th/7th round pick.  (I picked him in both the 4th and 5th rounds and changed my mind since I figured he would still be around later...)

Anyway, I have watched this kid play for the last 4+ years, and last night is just a little glimpse of what the he can do.  I was surprised by the drives to the basket, however.  I hadn't seen him do much of that in the past, and those drives came BEFORE he was hitting the outside shot.  The kid turned down a D1 (Army) and numerous D2 and NAIA scholarships to go to UWO.  (If he happened to be 6"0+ I have a feeling there would have been more offers.)  For those of you that have been around for awhile, he reminds me of a Joe Imhoff/Brett Davis type player.  Can defintely shoot the rock, and can handle the ball pretty well.  His work ethic is ridiculous.  I like to use the term "gym rat" when his name comes up.

Finlandia may have won only their first, 84-79, but they looked good last nite. Thorson is a legit  player, could start for any  team in the league: 27 points, about his average, on 11/17 shooting. He's deadly inside. Falcons had no answer. Two others had double/doubles for them--Gordon and Bressette. Thorson, 6'5," is their biggest player, yet they  out rebounded RF by 10--they definitely wanted it  more than the home team until the last five minutes.

Hannigan (9), Compton (9), both off the bench with barely more than ten minutes apiece were very good. Falcons have 3 legit. freshmen: Hannigan, Guerin, Whittenberger. All had double figure minutes. That's the brightes spot from last nite's game--that plus Compton (sophomore) who came close to replacing Koonkaew last nite.
