Hope College is providing live stats from the games at the RDV Classic in Orlando.  The Oshkosh/Defiance game should be about to tip off.

http://www.hope.edu/pr/athletics/livestats/

I presume they'll have all 3 games tonight,  OWO vs Defiance , Elmhurst v Tri-State, Hope v Roanoke

I'm guessing they'll do the same tommorrow afternoon.

This loss is only going to push this team harder in practice and in the Tournament in Orlando. They were going to be blow outs to begin with, and they will. Finlandia is playing a lot better these days, but I don't suspect them to be a challenge on the 2nd.

Which brings up the next mega-match up for Oshkosh, and that will be on Jan. 5th at Quandt. I expect both Point and Oshkosh will only have one loss going into that game, and that both teams will be in the top 15.

And apparently we know nothing about Oshkosh. This is a head-scratcher.

UWO shot 33% and didn't make a 3. Also, Johnsen appears to have started over Schrimpf.

No idea what to think about this team now. It can play with anyone. Can lose to anyone too, I guess. If anyone can tell us something about Defiance it would be easier to process this one.

Defiance was picked to finish 2nd in the HCAC, none of their wins will overwhelm you

Pettaway their 6-8 F Jr. forward is a pre-season AA candidate.

A Hope person I talked to in Orlando didn't think Oshkosh played very well.  But from the sounds of it, none of the six teams there did more than shake the rust off.

We played Defiance regularly when I was in college at Olivet.  I even recall a road trip to Defiance.  It seems shocking that they would beat Oshkosh.

Sac, what town did you grow up in?  I worked at Olivet for eight years in the 70s, in addition to my undergraduate years, so I know the area well.

Where did you see that?  When I checked the live stats before tip-off, it had Schrimpf listed as starting.....

Here is my thought on the Titans.....  The games in which they have faced a legit big man, DSA has played "soft."  When he goes up against a guy that is as big as him or bigger, he seems a bit intimidated and tries to shoot over the top of the guy, instead of taking the ball to the rim.  (Against Elmhurst, and 6'9" Brent Ruch he was 3-10 from the field, while against Augustana and the combination of 6'9" Dain Swetalla and 6'7" Chandlor Collins he was 3-9.)  For the sake of comparison, going into yesterdays's game, DSA was 33-51 from the field the rest of the season (6 games.)  That is quite a difference!!!

If that trend continues, it doesn't bode well for the Titans in their two match-ups with Platteville and big man Jeff Skemp.....

Nice call Downtown and good luck with Finlandia.  ;)

The WARHAWKS improved to 7-1 on the season by easily blowing out Cardinal Stritch 94-50.  Using 8-0, 7-0 and 11-0 runs in the first half WHITEWATER built a comfortable 23 point lead, 53-30, at the half.  The second half was equally boring as CS struggled from the field shooting just 27%.  Seventeen WARHAWKS saw action, 12 scored with Rob Perry pacing four of them in double figures with 18 points.  Kori Vernon came off the bench to score 13 while Matt Goodwin and Josh King added 11 and 10 respectively.  Led by Billy Kolinski's 7 rebounds WHITEWATER dominated the boards 48-28 including a 19-6 advantage on the offensive end.  The WARHAWKS had a season low 7 turnovers in the game and an assist on 16 of 36 baskets scored.

Next on the schedule is a match up with St Johns on 12/28 in a holiday tournament hosted by St Norbert.

BadgerWarhawk, How about a rundown on the Warhawks. I am an SJU poster. If possible how would they compare to last years Point team that mopped up on the Johnnies in the NCAA's?

Thanks

Oshkosh is getting killed at halftime 34-14 against Augustana.

Just for the record, they did not announce this score at the Stagg Bowl. :)

Pat, this kind of a football question but you're here so I'll ask it now.

When I was in Salem the first two years I noticed that at the base of the grandstands they had Stagg Bowl winners and the year of their win painted on the wall.  This year I wasn't able to make the trip but watching the game on TV I noticed they had NCAA things on the walls at the base of the grandstands.   Did they paint over the other things or was that some sort of temporary banner they had put up.

I was really hoping in the future I'd see UW-W and 2007 painted on there.

We were competitive with last year's Point team and my opinion is that we've fielded a better team this year.   We're not really big but we're ok in the low post.  Rob Perry plays bigger than he is and Josh King is a real blue-collar kind of kid and has a knack for being in the right place to rebound.   We've been pretty decent on the boards overall.   Our guard play is much improved over last year.  Though we're still short a player who probably would have been the starting point guard, Koski is doing a decent job.  He doesn't score much but he doesn't turn the ball over much either and distributes it better than those of last year.   Our off guards are not too bad.  Goodwin is a solid player on both ends of the floor and McKay has been scoring better of late though illness kept him down last night.   We can bring Kolinski and Vernon off the bench and pretty much not miss a beat on the floor though there is some drop off when we have to substitute at the point.   Last night Justin Berry gave us some really good minutes at the point from off the bench.

We're very athletic across the board.  We'll try to keep the tempo fast.  We're better shooters than we were last year.   But we can lay an egg like we did in Oshkosh too.

That's a banner on the base of the grandstands that will be used in future years. The other banners still exist and were displayed outside the stadium this year.

Possible that this one could get ugly. SJU graduated 7 from last years squad. We return Brady Brink, the 6th man of the year in the MIAC last year. He has played 40 minutes in a couple of games thus far. We have one starter back at the 2 spot. He has not been stellar so far this season. Our big post player is coming off an knee injury and just saw his first action of the season last wednesday night. Outside of that we have 4 or 5 freshmen that are getting key minutes! Looks like they have potential, but they are stioll frosh! ;D
