That's a banner on the base of the grandstands that will be used in future years. The other banners still exist and were displayed outside the stadium this year.

Thanks, Pat.  I just think it's really neat that we would have our banner up there too.
I guess my memory isn't that good.  For some reason I thought they were painted on the wall last year.

Oshkosh is getting killed at halftime 34-14 against Augustana.

Just for the record, they did not announce this score at the Stagg Bowl. :)

Good one, Pat 8)

Oshkosh bounces back, winning 81-72 over Tri-State.

DJ Marsh had a bounce back game, scoring 24 points on 9/12 shooting. Miller had 16 and DSA put up 19 more, and was named to the all-tourney team.

Despite the win, this was a pretty sad showing for Oshkosh coming home from Orlando. No way should they have lost to Defiance. But, at least they picked up a win and they can enjoy a break until Finlandia on the 2nd.

But the way Finlandia is playing, I don't know if that one is going to be a breeze  :( :o

UWO shot 33% and didn't make a 3. Also, Johnsen appears to have started over Schrimpf.

No idea what to think about this team now. It can play with anyone. Can lose to anyone too, I guess. If anyone can tell us something about Defiance it would be easier to process this one.
Where did you see that?  When I checked the live stats before tip-off, it had Schrimpf listed as starting.....

I inferred that from a box score minutes after the game. Schrimpf did indeed start.

This loss is only going to push this team harder in practice and in the Tournament in Orlando. They were going to be blow outs to begin with, and they will. Finlandia is playing a lot better these days, but I don't suspect them to be a challenge on the 2nd.

Which brings up the next mega-match up for Oshkosh, and that will be on Jan. 5th at Quandt. I expect both Point and Oshkosh will only have one loss going into that game, and that both teams will be in the top 15.

Oops.  I know nothing about Defiance.
And apparently we know nothing about Oshkosh. This is a head-scratcher.

Certain information has come to light. Turns out Defiance deserved to win, thanks to having a cooler academic staff than Oshkosh.

Todd Comer, a Defiance English prof, submitted a paper at the 2006 Lebowski Fest academic symposium. Far out. The Dude abides losing a mere basketball game to a college that hires an Achiever.

If UWO loses to Eau Claire this year, I'll abide another loss, seeing as though EC English prof Stacy Thompson proved his Achiever status with his own Lebowski Fest submission.

Some things are more important than basketball scores. We'll get Defiance in the next round-robin, though unlike what we (I) thought, Defiance was not exactly a lightweight.

That said, UWO will brace the kids at EC. Should be a pushover.

Looking forward to hearing the results from Rock Island to hear how the Pointers fared against the Vikings, if the game is held (see below)

Just want to wish everyone a Happy and SAFE Holiday.  Many of us will be around next week, but for those of you traveling in the southwest portion of the state, it could get hairy on the roads here.  Expecting 4-9 inches of Snow Saturday afternoon and night, so if you are around here, take your time.

I'm going to the Loras game tonight with Brian.  I'll post something about the game unless lBrian does...or if his post needs correction!  :o

As in past years, UWOshkosh will look decent against some teams and then lose to teams everyone thinks they should beat ( e.g.( Florida trip getting beat). Prediction: SPoint will beat them easily in SP

Greek Tragedy

It's funny that everyone is questioning Oshkosh now.  They started off really well, knocking off the likes of Elmhurst and Whitewater, but have since lost to a really good Augustana team and then getting upset by Defiance.  Oshkosh is still a very solid team and will contend for the WIAC title.  I doubt Point is going to beat them easily come the new year.

Oshkosh has DSA and Point's Louis "The Hurt" Hurd may be too small to guard him and Jerome SWATacheck may not be quick enough to guard him.  Oshkosh also has The Marshmallow with "The Prince" Drew Jackson most likely the only guy on Point's bench quick enough to guard him.  Ross Rortvedt and Matt Moses may also get the assignment on DJ.  Bryan Beamish will also have to do a great job keeping Jordan Johnson off the boards.  It' going to be a battle.  The X-factor will probably be the health of Pistol Pete Rortvedt and his health from minor knee surgery (?).....

Oshkosh also has The Marshmallow

No offense Old School, but that might be the worst nickname for DJ Marsh I've ever heard.

I think UW Oshkosh will finish 3rd maybe 4th in the WIAC. no way will they contend for the title. They are an OK shooting team and are near the top in FT shooting but they are undersized except for DS Anderson and he is only 6'7". SP has the inside track in the WIAC. They have the mentality and game sense to win big games. Oshkosh lacks that concept.
