This year's race is going to come down to the very end I think...  The last 4 weeks of the season the top 4 teams all do have games against other top teams.

2/13 WW @ Pl
2/16 WW @ SP
2/20 Osh @ WW
2/23 SP @ Pl

Interestingly, two of Oshkosh's "big 4" games come earlier...  They go to Platteville on 1/30 and host Point on 2/2.  If they win both of these games and take care of Whitewater on the 20th (and don't get bit by anybody else along the way), then they've got the conference title locked down.  For Point and Platteville, if they don't win these games, then it knocks them down another game and they'll need help.

Here's the current standings:

Whitewater   5-1     W vs. Point,  L vs. Osh
Oshkosh        5-1     W vs. Point, W vs. WW, L vs Platte
Platteville       4-2     W vs. Osh, L vs. Point, L vs. EC
Stevens Pt     3-2     W vs. Platte, L vs. Osh, L vs. WW

Platte and WW square off in WW next Wednesday.  This can go a ways to either helping Oshkosh to separate a bit, or to put Platteville in some dire straights.

1/23 also marks the halfway point in the conference sched.

Oshkosh can help their cause, as I said before, the next two games.  If they win those, then they've put themselves in a great spot the rest of the way out, with just the game against WW and they need to make sure they don't falter against the other 5 conference opponents.

1/23 Platte @ WW
1/26 Point @ Osh
1/30 Osh @ Platte

2/13 WW@ Platte
2/16 WW@ Point
2/20 Osh @ WW
2/23 Point @ Platte

Interestingly, there's one focus game each of these weeks against the top 4...  and a lot of trap games in between!  Should be a great run!!

And UWM/UWW, he's provided the points I've needed the last three games to get me a W after starting 0-3... I'll take what I can get!

Finally it's here.  The 16th of January, which means it is the first time I get to watch the Pioneers play in Williams Fieldhouse in over a month.  Looking forward to seeing the Eagles and Pioneers clash, since they run (at least the past few years) same offense.

On a not really related note, to those of you that read the page and are Pioneer Basketball Alumni, Saturday, January 26th is our Alumni day with the Alumni Game starting promptly at 12 noon.  The Pioneer women play Sout at 3, with the men's game starting 30 after the conclusion of the women's game.  If for some reason you did not receive your alumni information, shoot me an email and I will make sure you get something.

My email is listed in my profile, and you will have to become a member (its free) to see it.  Otherwise if you're having troubles, check UWP's website or get ahold of the coaching staff so they can get your information.

Hey PointSpecial, not sure where you got your info, but Oshkosh hosts Point on January 26th, not February 2nd. Oshkosh is at Stout on the 2nd.
Don't give up. Don't ever give up.

You're right, I just put the wrong date up there.  It's been corrected.

Appears both UWO and UWSP have their hands full on the road so far tonight, as the Titans are down 8 to Eau Claire, and the Pointers are up 1 at Stout.

Both games are at the half.

Finally, no team is under the spell of the Rule of 65 more than Oshkosh. The Titans this year?

11-0 when they score more than 65

0-3 when they don't.
Make that 0-4, as they score only 54 points in a 57-54 loss tonight......

Tough game to watch, the "Big Country" and Scooter were entertaining to listen to on the webcast.  Big Country, during a timeout, is answering his cell phone on air! lol...Thanks to Scooter to keeping him in check with score updates and names and little tibits and decent camera work (apparently they usually have 3 in the booth).

Pete and Ross Rortvedt will forever be remembered as "R1" and R2" (and yes, they are brothers) and Beamish is now named "Beamer"...funny stuff.  Oh yeah, one last thing...GOT IT, GOOD!

EC gets a good win over UWO tonight.

In the first half, UWO went in the paint and hit a lot of close shots, but EC kept even with them.  About half way through the half with the score close, Beyer picks up his 2nd foul and goes to the bench for the rest of the half.  Advantage UWO, right?  No, EC actually pulls away a bit for an 8-point halftime lead.

EC starts to pull away early in the 2nd half and runs out to a 12 point lead.  UWO then  goes to the outside to hit a couple 3s and they are right back in it.  The rest of the game, EC maintained a 1-5 point lead.  UWO had a chance with a few minutes left to take the lead when Marsh drove by his defender for a wide open layin, but the ball slipped out of his hands and went out of bounds.  Ryan Shea takes a 3 with a minute left which hit the rim, bounced up about 10ft., and then went through the net.  Definitely, the play of the game.  UWO did have an opportunity after rebounding a missed FT (down by 3), but Millers shot was tipped and Anderson ended up missing at the buzzer.

Big Country was a little off tonight but it is a loose broadcast, much appreciated by fans like me who can not make it to the games... I would like to see all the WIAC games have a webcast. (nice thing is you can have a beverage while watching...mmmm  tasty)

Good job by stout tonight and they have to turn around and do it all over on sat.  Not as many point fans sitting behind the bench... I remember them bringing buses over.

Good job by EC and Sup starting to take control of their conference season.

On a side note my Packer self am now living in a basement apartment in Connecticut and my landlords (who lives above) is a monster Giants fan... I tried to bet a month rent on the outcome but he did not take it :(

May have to do with it being a week night!  Anyway, Big Country was stumbling over his words, kind of funny, but yeah, the webcasts are cool and I appreciate any commentary, accurate or not!

QuoteSo I pose this question, when will Stout win a WIAC game?

My guess, 2/13 at home vs Superior.

Bllppphhhhttt! We'll see about that. Supers with three conference wins. Bonus season.
