Not sure if the Rob Perry injury is true or not, but check out the blog. The guy that writes this seems to know what he is talking about....

My guess is that you aren't going to hear from any of the Whitewater faithful if he is hurt until after today's game......

Perry is out. Probably for the year. It was on the radio this am.

Sorry to hear about Perry's injury.  Hope his recovery goes well.

QuotePerry is out. Probably for the year.

Did I say 03/04 was a wacky year?

I know Whitewater can fill in the position that Perry leaves, but the inside presence is all but gone now. No one on this Warhawk strikes any fear, and I'm sure the production of Josh King and Kori Vernon will drop.

Tough luck for the Warhawks, but, they should get past Stout today.

buf

Point over Sup 78-57
UWO over UWL 81-68
WW big over Stout late

EC hangs on to win over RF 74-70.  Down 3, RF takes the ball down the court and Reese decides to go 1 on 4 to the hoop and looses the ball.

Good game from Probst, who shot the lights out in the first half.

Anxious to hear about the Point-Superior game. Looks like Hill got his share of points; Smith got shut down; looks like Roeder didn't play? Proue lasted longer than Smith this game?

What?

Brian Carroll

Oshkosh outrebounded La Crosse 38-24 en route to the 20 pont win in La Crosse, getting only one fewer offensive board than the Eagles had on the defensive side. Ouch. Rebounding has been a problem for LaCrosse all year.

UWRF

RF loses on a 3 with less than 10 secs to Platteville.
RF takes WW to OT and loses.
RF falls to Dan Culy's runner, which was like that little popper thing in the game trouble...  :D
RF has EC on the ropes and home and cant close the deal.

all but one at the Karges Center

4 games that could have easily gone the other way...

how good would this team be if the had koonkaew?

Greek Tragedy

Very good points, UWRF.  They would be real good with Koonkaew.  Reese didn't impress me at all when Point played them.  They seemed to have troubles dribbling the ball sometimes.

Point tops Superior

Point gets past a pesky Superior squad led by the lightning quick Dwight Hill.  Manor also had a solid game for the Yellow Jackets.  Point really shut down Jake Smith.  He was in foul trouble the whole game with Point going at him with the bigger Wotachek and quicker Beamish.  He had two fouls in the first five minutes of the game, and picked up his 3rd with 9 to go, in the first half.

Point jumped out and had good sized leads to start and once was up 25-15 only for Superior to cut it to 5 at the break.  They finally built a double digit lead they'd keep with around 13 minutes to go in the game.  Superior is a tough squad, especially if Hill does what he does, Jake Smith stays out of foul trouble and Culy does better than his 4 for 16 performance.

Point again showed that the bench is their strength even when the likes of Hicklin and Pete Rortvedt aren't on target.  Even though Ross Rortvedt and Matt Moses only scored 5 apiece, they both played very well, as did Hurd (10 pts) and the emergence of Jared Jenkins for the 2nd straight games gives Point yet another athletic option to Drew Jackson.  He had several potential dunks, but he was fouled, though he still got one to go!

These aren't the days of just letting Jon Krull or Jason Kalsow or Nick Bennett take over the game, it's a complete TEAM and anyone can put the ball in the net.

BTW, how in the world is Dwight Hill listed as a forward?  He's definitely a guard and how tall is he?  6 ft?  The guy can play!

Greek Tragedy

That really does suck for Rob Perry.  The guy totally doesn't deserve that after what happened to him last year.  He's definitely a stud and will be missed by Whitewater and the league itself.  I think he's Whitewater's most important player because they don't have anyone that can fill his shoes in terms of inside presence and attitude.  Not to knock Josh King or Kori Vernon, but yeah, they aren't anything like Perry.

From Mr. DT's earlier post

I was thinking:

1) All-WIAC Starting 5
Rob Perry
Jeff Skemp
Dan Beyer
DJ Marsh
Ryan Shea

Hard to keep out Jake Smith, Dwight Hill, Matt Miller, among others.

2) All-WIAC 6th man
Mike Shaw (Louis Hurd a very close 2nd)

3) Mid-year POY
Dan Beyer

Skemp and (gulp) DJ Marsh got consideration

4) Mid-year ROY
Ryan Shea

5) Mid-year COY
Gibbons:  It was him or TVD.  Oshkosh was picked 4th and they are 2nd, EC picked 8th and they are 5th, 1 1/2 games behind Oshkosh.

6) Best game of the year (we'll even dip into non-conference games, since there have been great one's).
These are CONFERENCE awards, so I'll keep them to conference games.

I know there have been a lot of good games at the end of games, like Platteville scoring 10 points in less than a minute to beat RF and some other real close games...but I'm going to be a homer and go with Platteville's loss at Point.  The WHOLE game was a great game and it was a nailbiter throughout.  Neither team had more than an 8 point lead the whole game.  Point was up by 8 and then Platteville would make a run and be up by 8 as well.

I was thinking:

1) All-WIAC Starting 5
Dan Beyer-Eau Claire
Dwight Hill-Superior
DJ Marsh-Oshkosh
Rob Perry-Whitewater
Jeff Skemp-Platteville

Hard to keep out Matt Goodwin (Whitewater,) Matt Miller (Oshkosh,) and DSA (Oshkosh.)

2) All-WIAC 6th man
Mike Shaw-Platteville
(Kori Vernon-Whitewater would have gotten my vote earlier in the season, however he has now started the last four WIAC games for the Warhawks.)

3) Mid-year POY
Rob Perry-Whitewater
I know he won't be here in the end, but since these are mid-year selections, it's hard to argue with numbers he has put up to date.  His team is currently in sole posession of 1st place.  I will be curious to see what Whitewater does in the second half of the season without him.

(Marsh, and Skemp also get consideration)

4) Mid-year ROY
Ryan Shea-Eau Claire
(Tony Mane-La Crosse and Jake Smith-Superior also get consideration.)

5) Mid-year COY
Dave Buchanan-Superior
He has made Superior into a competitive team instead of the "walkover" they were last season.  Young kids have seemd to buy into what he is preaching.

6) Best game of the year
I haven't seen any "great" games, so i will abstain from this topic.........
(Oshkos/Elmhurst would have gotten my vote if it was for all games, not just WIAC games.)
